There has been a lot of speculation over Zdeněk Štybar and which team he will be with for the season 2010/2011. Štybar has a contract with Telenet-Fidea until February 2011 but on his website, he mentioned that he hasn’t finalized on a team yet.

Kevin Pauwels, Štybar’s teammate, is also known to be on the same boat as the Czech rider. Telenet-Fidea’s team manager Hans van Kasteren and Jurgen Mettepenningen of Sunweb are on the verge of a lawsuit over the recent events. However, if there was a team who had a chance at grabbing Štybar, it would be Lanbouwkrediet Credit Agricole.

Talk of a team where Sven Nys and Štybar are present is a dream for many cyclocross fans. The impressive Nys together with Štybar who is no lightweight after winning the Worlds, the World Cup overall, the Superprestige and the UCI overall ranking.

UCI World Cup champion Zdenek Stybar gets one over rival Niels Albert as he wins the overall 2010 Superprestige title, also breaking Sven Nys’ winning streak of seven straight victories in the process.

The circuit in Belgium had its share of snow and frigid temperatures that is currently blasting the cycling events in Europe at this time of the season, but Stybar and Albert nevertheless succeeded in putting on a fierce and exciting contest all throughout the race, one that seemed to reflect the intense rivalry between the two cyclocross stars.

Stybar and Niels have been waging their war of skill and pride against each other since last season, where they engaged in a racing rivalry for podium finishes and championships. This season is no different, as both riders are currently tied in the overall classification even before the Superprestige event.

Zdenek Stybar has won the fifth round of the UCI Cyclocross World Cup today in Igorre, Spain. Following behind Stybar were the Belgians Niels Albert and Sven Nys. American cyclist Jonathan Page made it into the top 10 with a nice 8th place finish. Niels Albert, the current world cyclocross champion, is leading the series with 370 points. Stybar is just five points behind. Third overall in the series is Klaas Vantornout, with 279 points. The sixth round will be held on December 20th in Kalmthout, Belgium.
