USA Cycling official Harry Lam was seriously injured during a cyclo-cross even last Saturday in Massachusetts, and is facing a long recovery. Lam was hit by a rider on accident while he was sprinting for the finish line, leaving Lam with a broken nose and head injury. He went into a medically induced coma for 24 hours, but was cleared for release from the hospital on Thursday. He will stay in Virginia with his extended family before he can leave to his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lam’s friend and fellow official, Randy Shafer, says “there are a lot of difficulties ahead for Harry and his family, between medical expenses, separation from the family, no work, etc. The New England Bicycle Racing Association (NEBRA) and other officials around the country have been working to set up a fund to assist Harry and his family….
USA Cycling announced that it is reviewing 12 UCI Continental Team Status applications for the 2010 season. The deadline to turn in an application was October 30th, any candidates to apply after this date will not be accepted for the 2010 season. The 12 teams who have plans to compete in the USA Cycling Professional Tour are:

The 2010 National Racing Calendar has just been announced by USA Cycling. The calendar is very similar to the previous year, although it is missing the Amgen Tour of California Women’s race and the Hanes Park Classic. They did, however, add two new races to the calendar, with one in New Jersey and one in Virginia. Of the 27 races, the men will have 25, the women 19, and two will be women only. The overall purse for the 2010 National Racing Calendar will be $981,310, which is almost $400,000 less than last year. $719,000 will be for the men, and the women will be competing for $262,310.
