Register Now Trek 100

The registration for the Trek 100 Ride for Hope is open until May 25, 2010. The big event will be on June 12 at Trek’s Waterloo, Wisconsin. The Ride for Hope race is to raise funds for the critical pediatric cancer and related blood disorder research. From the time it started in 1990, Trek 100 has raised over $8 million for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund.

Participants can choose among the following laps: 19, 36, 62 or 100 mile loops. For every mile they wish to take, a $1 must be raised. There is also a registration fee of $40 which is not included in the per-mile count but the fee is inclusive of a 2010 Trek 100 t-shirt, pre-ride breakfast and snacks along the route. There will also be post-ride activities for everyone to enjoy.

There won’t be any on the spot registration which means, interested riders should register on or before May 25. If you don’t have the drive to join the race, you can still contribute by sponsoring a rider or team, or you can make a donation online.

Make each mile count and for more details, visit Trek100.org.

Trek MTB Skills Program Expand for 2010

The Trek Dirt Series MTB Skills program is expanding their scope for this year to include cyclists (particularly women) in Canada and the Western U.S. The 2010 schedule includes over fourteen MTB training camps for women only, as well as two co-ed stops.

The MTB skills program is designed for developing the riding skills of participants in all experience levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The series will involve cross-country, downhill, and free-riding, and will be held during a weekend-long training camp in 16 locations.

The Trek Dirt Series has been going on for ten years now, with the goals of providing expert and personalized instruction in mountain biking. The program develops the skills and confidence of the participants and allows them to conquer their fears and take pleasure in the sport, and more than 5,000 riders have already gotten into the act since the series’ first year.

Registration is now open, and interested riders are advised to sign up as soon as possible, since the lists for these events tend to quickly fill up, according to camp founder Candace Shadley. She adds that Trek’s support has allowed the program to expand operations and reach out to cyclists as far east as Colorado.
