If you have seen Team Sky race recently you may have seen the helmets they are wearing, and could raise a eyebrow. For those that do not know, Kask is supplying Team Sky helmets, previously they were supporting Barlworld. The actual helmet is called the Vertigo, and of course comes in the traditional Team Sky colors. Featuring up and down adjustment hinged maximizing comfort, 24 vents for keeping your head cool, reinforced frame on the inside of the helmet, and reflective strips on the back of the helmet and strap. You may have seen a small glimpse of the new Team Sky Bus, but now we have a few more pictures of the outside and inside. Team principal Dave Brailsford told head of transport Gwilym Evans what he wanted for the Team Sky Bus in June, but Evans wanted to raise the bar for the team, and show us something we have never seen in pro cycling. After 9,000 hours and about four months, the Team Sky Bus was done. At a first glance, the outside features Team Sky colors, but overall looks like a normal bus, until you step on board. Norway’s Edvald Boasson Hagen will be making his Tour de France debut next year with the new Team Sky. “I’ll ride the Tour mainly to gain experience. Boasson Hagen saw many victories in 2009; winning at Gent-Wevelgem, stages at the Tour of Britain and Tour of Poland, and the overall classification in Britain. He made his Grand Tour debut at the Giro d’Italia and also got the Norwegian Time Trial Champion jersey. Greg Henderson has made the move from Columbia-HTC to Team Sky during the off season. Henderson had a very successful 2009 season, winning a stage at the Vuelta a España, and he also took home the New Zealand Cyclist of the Year award. Next season, his focus will be the Tour Down Under, Tour de France, and the World Championships. In his three seasons with Columbia-HTC, Henderson did not get the opportunity to shine with riders like Mark Cavendish on the team. Britain’s first ProTour squad, Team Sky, is inviting 300 members of the public to ride with them on January 4th, 2010, their official launch day. To become eligible, you must become a friend of Team Sky’s Facebook page, and fill out a simple form. 300 riders will be selected at random to join Bradley Wiggins, Juan Antonio Flecha, Edvald Boasson Hagen, and the rest of the gang. The lucky cyclists will recieve a text message before 8am the day of containing details of Team Sky’s secret starting location in London. Not only did Team Sky, Britain’s first ProTour team, announce on Thursday that they have signed Briton Bradley Wiggins, they also showed off what they will be riding next year. The bike is the Pinarello Dogma, with a black and blue color scheme. The bike is built off of Pinarello’s Dogma 60.1 frameset, with Shimano Dura-Ace components. The Dogma frames are lightweight, claiming to weigh in at 1050 grams, and are strong enough to endure the rough demands of professional cycling. They are built asymmetrically, to help balance forces between drive and non-drive sides. After the jump is a pic of Bradley Wiggins posing next to the bike. Expect to see Team Sky debut on the Pinarello Dogma in 2010!
