Steve Peat was the guest of honor at Sheffield Hellam University last night. He thanked the University for their support which played a major role on his win at the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike Championships in Canberra.

The hometown hero has a career that any biker would envy. He has been to the podium more than 50 times and has won the Lisbon DH race 8 times. This record has not been broken yet and remains Peat’s own.

Steve believes that his win in 2009 was a combination of both physical and psychological training. “Training at Sheffield Hallam has given me a new focus. The training programme that the Podium Performance guys here put together helped me structure my training and leave time for my family. It was definitely one of the things that helped me win the World Championships.”
