Caisse d’Epargne has signed Ruben Plaza for the 2010 season. The Spanish champion has been tied to the Operacion Puerto doping scandal, but has eventually been cleared by a Spanish judge. Plaza was initially signed to Caisse back in 2007, but they dropped him because several of the race organizers didn’t want Puerto riders at their events. He’s been unable to find a major team, and has been racing in Portugal for the past two years. The 29-year-old is now getting a second chance with Caisse, and is joining Alejandro Valverde, another Puerto cyclist. The 27-man team will be meeting for their first training camp next week in Pamplona.
