The 2011 Culebro 1.0 from Focus is tagged as everyman’s bike. Great for both casual riding or serious racing, the Culebro 1.0 features a tapered headtube, a hydroformed aluminum frame that’s triple-butted and carbon fork. A BB30 bottom bracket system goes well with its hollow tubing technology for more clearance and stiffness.

Coming with FSA bar, seatpost and stem, the Culebro 1.0 receives stopping power from Shimano Ultegra brakes and shifters. The Shimano Ultegra drivetrain runs on a triple gear ratio of 52/39/30 for the front and 11-28 for the rear. Continental Ultra Sport tires and a DT Swiss wheelset finishes off the build.

The seatstays meet chainstays on a single flow that keeps the back wheel rigid and mounted on its frame for increased comfort and lateral stability. Made in Germany, the 2011 Focus Culebro 1.0 retails for $2200….

New for 2011 is the TF1 race bike from Fondriest. Handmade in Italy, the TF1 is made with a 3k HMF30 carbon fiber. It used a “bonded technique” that allows for 7 frame sizes and a custom-made option. Its sleek lines and classic look makes it an ideal competition bike but can be spec’d for non-competitive rides.

The TF1 is sold as a frame but can be set-up with Shimano Dura Ace Di2 electronic gear, SRAM Red, Campy Super Record or Shimano Dura Ace. Oversized seat tube and bowed stays are an advantage for bigger riders. The frame comes with a BB30/BSA bottom bracket set, a superficial 3k carbon finish and a patent pending dropout with anti-release system for cycle safety.

The medium sized frame weighs 970g while the raw fork weighs 340g. Retail price is $4000.

Orbea makes its mark in all-mountain and enduro with the 2011 Rallon 30. Made from hydroformed Tricone aluminum, the Rallon 30 aims to be the benchmark in its field on design, sealed bearings and performance.

The Rallon 30 is a result of the application of Advance Dynamics technology. This is a computer-based program that simulates the performance of dual suspension bikes. From here, Orbea and CEIT (Guipuzcoa Studies and Technical Research Centre) can take the data and use it to create a bike that is optimized in its suspension platform, travel, damper and sealed bearings.

With a tapered headtube, tapered Fox Talas fork, and an enduro-specific geometry, the Rallon 30 gets fine tuned. Long seat tubes, replaceable dropouts, short 17.2″ chainstays and a Fox RP23 boost valve shock with XV air canister are added to ensure that it is capable to handle descents, climbs and everything else in between.

The Elite HPC Race bike is one of Cube’s top quality race-ready bikes. It uses the SHPC Advanced Twin Mold Monocoque Technology on its carbon frame with a perfect layering process that uses more carbon and less resin. Cube also features integrated post mounts for better breaking absorption and the Frame Save System, which allows you to replace the derailleur hanger in case of a crash.

The Cube Elite HPC Race bike has integrated cable routings to keep the frame looking clean and to protect the cables from outside elements. The press-fit BB gives improved lateral stiffness and a tapered steerer features a larger fork shaft, making it more rigid and more secure.

With its Ready for Race geometry, the Elite HPC Race also comes with Fox 32 FIT, ten-speed X.0 and a triple carbon chainset….

Specialized updated the Roubaix SL3 for 2011, making it one of the smoothest and fastest bike on the market. The goal of the design was to make sure that jarring and vibration over uneven roads and rough roads will not be experienced by the rider.

To make this possible, the Zertz elastomer inserts were placed mechanically in the seatstays unlike before. This damping gives about 6mm degree of flex. The frame becomes more stiff and durable when the inserts were pressed onto it.

There is a new stay molding with one bladder on each leg with a new shape for the stays. The stays are now 3D and it trickles from the dropouts to the seat tube for additional side-to-side stability.

Overall stiffness is made possible with the one-piece top tube/head tube/down tube mold used on the Tarmac SL3. For power transfer, Specialized used Press-In bearings, which in turn no longer requires…

Its design includes a pass through for the seat tube, top tube and its seat stays are forged as one. Vertical travel is also available for damping and flexibility at the rear.

The SL frame is made from 30/24T high-modulus carbon fiber. It uses Dura-Ace components that feature the latest STI carbon levers. As for the bottom bracket, FSA SL-K BB30 crank system is in place with its monocoque composite design. For added stiffness, it possess a 30mm AL 7075 spindle with AL 7075 T6 CNC’d 50/34 chain ring.

Volagi uses an E7 Sync Ti saddle for its ergonomic design and multi-postition platform. This has a cutout feature for better circulation. The saddle has a microfiber cover with UltraLite foam on…

For those riders who prefer a combination of great performance and a more comfortable ride, then watch out for Lapierre’s 2011 model Sensium 400 CP.

Aside from specializing in its Carbon HM Monocoque frame, the Sensium 400 CP also uses an SRAM GXP bottom bracket, which provides better adjustment to prevent tension with the bike’s chain. To lessen times of vibration, an elastomeric connector at the top of the seat stays was used.

From the front, rear derailleurs to the brakes and shifters, SRAM Force was employed, resulting in its excellent transmission and shifting. Lapierre Sensium 400 CP comes in 5 sizes and 4 versions in 2011.
