The ‘Legend Award’ will be given to Ron Kiefel, the former 7-11 professional. The award was created to honor bicycle legends who have ridden the Redlands n their career. This will be awarded at the 2010 Redlands Bicycle Classic in California on Sunday.

Kiefel is honored to receive the award as one of the ‘Legends’ in Redlands Classic. The ceremony will be held before the start of the Sunset Loop. This was notably one of Kiefel’s favorite courses. Kiefel’s career also covered riding in the Tour de France seven times, winning the 1985 Giro d’Italia’s stage 15 and have won an Olympic medal.

Having won third overall at the Redlands twice in 1993 and 1994, Kiefel recalls great times at the classic. “The Redlands Classic was an important stepping stone for the 7-Eleven team’s success in Europe at races like the Giro D’Italia and Tour de France.”
