Since 2003, North Shore Billet has been producing high quality CNC bike parts like derailleur hangers, cable guides, dropouts and other small accessories with high precision machining from their Vancouver BC based machine shop.

This 2011, North Shore Billet is releasing a new product, which is the prototype AM Stem. This prototype is machined from 6061 T6 aluminum that is higher strength aluminum as compared to most other hangers are stamped from.

Being CNC and 6061 T6 aluminum machined, the 2011 North Shore Billet’s Prototype AM Stem features the benefit of crisper rear derailleur shifting. This 70mm prototype features a pretty trick hollow top cap and M6 bolts all around.

A new 29er prototype bike this 2011 is the Cotic Solaris. Making the bike an outstanding item among the competitions is its light steel hardtail frame. Enhanced to match bigger wheels, its geometry is designed around an 80-120mm fork up front.

As a unique bike, the Cotic has a potential for different travel rocker links and different travel front and rear. Though new on the market, this bike is one of the first frames to feature the new oversized steerer standards.

Though it is not from a big company, the 2011 Cotic Solaris 29er Prototype features great components and design that helped it get the attention of the cycling population. The Cotic is just one of the few bikes that managed to feature a full susser design from scratch.

The 2011 prototype Psychlo X RSL from Moots is its latest project that combines the best of two bikes to excel in the cyclocross world. Available on July 2011, the Psychlo X RSL titanium possesses butted tubes in the main frame.

To keep bearings away from the bottom bracket shell, the prototype has a pressfit BB30 that’s bridgeless. This will also give a wide platform for the oversized tubing and wider mud clearance with its flattened out chainstays.

Moots also highlights a replaceable rear derailleur hanger and a 30.9mm seatpost, identical to the Moots RSL. A redesigned old fork will be the fork for the Psychlo X RSL. The ‘cross prototype will have a RSL stem and total weigh will be about 15.5lbs….

SE’s history with BMX is strong lived by the quad angle frame. Today we received information from SE on a prototype quad fixed gear frame hopefully soon to be released.

Only one prototype of the SE Quad fixed frame has been made. Last night, SE gave the frame to Marwin “The Wizard” Ou to test. You can catch “The Wizard” riding the Quad around the LBC area soon.

At this point, SE is unsure if the Quad fixed frame will launch with its 2012 line. More information coming in the next months.

Taj Mihelich debuts his new line of bikes, known as the Fairdale at InterBike. Two models were on display, both prototype commuter bikes.

When friends would ask Mihelich what kind of bike they should purchase for commuting, Mihelich didn’t know how to answer. Therefore, he decided to start Fairdale.

One of the highlights for Fairdale is the prices, which at this time was not stated but are said to be very affordable.

As of now, we have two commuter bikes (prototypes) pictured, but coming soon from Fairdale is a 29 inch BMX bike, 700c cruiser bike, and 26 inch wheeled single speed.

Both Fairdale’s are different: One uses drop bars and the other riser bars, fenders, and a rear basket that can hold a skateboard. More from the line coming soon.

Trek World is coming, and they have showcased one of the bikes that is a prototype for now, the Broadsider. Inspiration for the 2011 Trek Broadsider came from a comic book.

The comic book follows Max Malco, a legendary cliff racer that lost his life trying to save a young boy from his rivals. The bike and story was made from Trek’s industrial design group, and as of now the Broadsider is a prototype. Said by Trek “(Broadsider) project intended to keep the Trek brain trust sharp”.

Still, the Trek 2011 Broadsider takes on a vintage/tarnished look, and as of now it is not known if it will release.

Mondraker is going all out on testing the new Fox40 crown and stem, which is fused together. As of now, the Mondraker Integrated FOX40 Crown and Stem is a prototype, and is expected to be used with all the team riders to receive solid feedback. Mondraker stated that the stem and crown weighs only 253 grams, which is lighter than the Fox Crown and stem offering (368 grams). The new Mondraker integrated crown and stem takes away the use of 4 screws, and its flat design allows additional adjustments. More information coming soon.
