No Wins yet for Omega Pharma-Lotto

no wins yet omega pharma lotto No Wins yet for Omega Pharma Lotto

The Omega Pharma-Lotto is under extreme pressure to garner a win. With the Belgium classics just around the corner, the team has nothing to show for this season yet.

Only two teams are left in the Pro Tour teams that have not won anything. Eukaltel-Euskadi joins the Belgian team on this unfortunate state. There are 39 Pro Tour and Professional Continental teams and out of them, there are 8 teams with no wins yet. BMC and Omega Pharma-Lotto are the only major classics team included in the group with zero victories.

Mostly, victory is just within the team’s reach. For instance, Jurgen Van den Broek nearly won the Ruta del Sol but only finished second on the two attempts. At the Volta ao Algarve, Mickael Delage and Jurgen Roelandts only came second on the stages too. The team leader of Omega Pharma-Lotto Philippe Gilbert also did his best to win…

Leif Hoste of Omega Pharma-Lotto will not be in the Nokere Koerse race due to his back pain. An incident in the Tirreno-Adriatico left the rider to be in continuous pain. Omega Pharma-Lotto will continue to ride with a seven-man squad.

The Belgian news agency, Belga, reports that Hoste will postpone his attending the Dwars door Vlaanderen on March 24. It would seem that Hoste was feeling better but the pain came back and has continued to be a burden for the cyclist.

Hendrik Redant, Omega Phram directeur sportif, feels that Hoste should not push himself to race immediately. He also stressed that they have no choice but to go ahead and compete with only seven men because it was also already too late to get someone to sub for Hoste.

Graeme Brown of Rabobank will be coming back to Nokere Koerse to defend his title and further hope to make two…

German cyclist Sebastian Lang is less than satisfied with his performance last year, he stated at Omega Pharma-Lotto‘s training camp in Benicassim, Spain in the middle of December. He first moved to Silence-Lotto in 2008, his first move of his eight-year career. “After seven years with Gerolsteiner the change to the Belgian team was good for my motivation. Despite illness and a number of falls, I repeatedly had the inner drive to get me to work my way out of any lows,” Lang said on his personal Website. “Yet, the disruptions have greatly influenced the entire year. Even if, as a new rider, I was able to go to the team’s most important races of the year, the Tour of Flanders and the Tour de France, I am not happy with my season. I did not manage to demonstrate my time trial ability or produce a…

Omega Pharma-Lotto opens up the new year with a new name, among other things. They also got a new Website, for even more freshness in the new year. They have adopted the full name of their co-sponsor, Omega Pharma, in hopes to publicize the company rather than its products. General manager Geert Coeman said that the team got off to a “a (rather too) slow start” last season, but eventually got rolling in the right direction. With Cadel Evans leaving the team, Jurgen Van den Broek will be the go-to man for the Grand Tours, with help from newcomer Daniel Moreno. Looking back on last year, Sports Manager Marc Sergeant said that 2009 “brought us all sorts of miseries and problems as well as disillusions by results and by men, but I prefer to remember the fantastic moments we lived through our riders.”…
