The International Olympic Committee has made a few changes to the track program, including following a UCI recommendation to restructure track events. The 2012 London Olympics will not be featuring the individual pursuit, which is supposed to bring “gender equity” to track events. There will now be more track events for women, a total of five, as opposed to the three they previously had. Now, men and women get five events each. Women will be competing in the sprint, team sprint, team keirin, team pursuit, and new omnium events. The individual pursuit, points race, and Madison events are gone. The IOC’s president, Jacques Rogge, said that they have followed a UCI recommendation to “focus more on endurance events.”…
