Built for enduro and all mountain, the 2011 Tracer from Intense carries new changes that makes it dominate the market of trail bikes. The new Tracer 2 has an adjustable travel of 145mm or 160mm at its upper link. It uses the patented VPP suspension platform and has four geometry sizes to suit any rider.

The 2011 Tracer 2 can accommodate various headset and steerer options with its full 1.5″ head tube. It has a new rear dropout system and comes with 142×12 standard but also allows SyntaceX12, or standard 135QR dropouts. A better bearing system is new for this trail bike with an EZ-lock binder-bolt feature on the main pivot.

For a stable and rigid swingarm, it gets a machined boxbrace seatstaybridge. To add, the yoke was redesigned with lower link machining. The hydroformed downtube was also modified to save weight with the ISCG-05 integration on the BB shell.

The 2011 Monarch Plus RC3 from RockShox sends a message of pure traction for all-mountain biking. Available in spring, it is a union of two key features, the Solo Air Spring and the damper design that’s inspired from the Vivid Air damping system.

The spring uses air pressure for adjustment that goes through the Schrader valve. The new damping system comes with a three-position compression adjustment and a Dual Flow rebound. The forged aluminum body and shaft makes for a lightweight ensemble that makes downhill riding faster.

Sag gradients can be found on the upper tubes of the fork as well as on its damper body. Configurations for the Monarch Plus RC3 are:190 x 50mm (7.5×2.0”), 200 x 50 or 57mm (7.875×2.0 or 2.25”), 216 x 63mm (8.5×2.5”), 222 xx 66mm (8.75×2.6”).

For 2011, Turner Bikes made a few changes with its Sultan XC/trail bike. The 120mm of travel with the dw-link suspension system went under review to ensure that the relationship of the dw-link placing, bottom bracket height and chainstay length goes well. The goal is to have the power transfer go smoothly through the 29-inch wheels.

These changes include a 44mm head tube that allow for a Cane Creek 1.5″ external cup and inset 1 1/8″ upper cup. Now in anodized paint finish, the Sultan can also be fitted with a 1 1/8″ steer tube with an inset Cane Creek headset.

Another modification was the lowered bottom bracket. With a possibility of using a 140mm travel fork, Turner also tweaked the junction of the seat tube and top tube.

MSRP with a trail kit build is $4499. The frame kit MSRP is $2450.

Sunn relaunches its downhill race bike Radical for 2011 with 200mm of travel. Keeping its rocker link/connecting rod concept, the Radical now comes with a steel rear triangle, making the most of the compression and performance the modified frame offers.

The 2011 Radical now has a tapered headtube of 1 1/8″-1 1/2″ for added strength to the aluminum front end. For more options on the rear suspensions, there’s also a new extension on the steel rear. As for plushness, the force of impact will not affect the speed due to the elastic quality of steel. This allows Sunn to create thinner tube sections that handles well as a whole and gives better traction while keeping in line with the aluminum weight.

The 2011 Sunn Radical comes in 3 models, the Radical S1, S2 and the Radical Finest. They are spec’d with Rock Shox forks, Truvativ cranks, Formula brakes, Hutchinson tires and…

Niner ushers in the first tapered headtube on a 29er with the 2011 W.F.O.9. Wide Full Open comes with a 5.5″ CVA suspension (Constantly Varying Arc), hydroformed tubing and options of 135 or 150mm rear spacing.

The CVA suspension design is to accomplish a bike that has a wheel dialed in on the different arcs it runs with, making it pedal neutral as well as brake neutral. The Niner W.F. O.9 keeps its gear in tune with each other so as not to affect the performance of the suspension.

The downtube’s S-bend gives way to an ISCG mount that makes the W.F.O.9 Hammerschmidt compatible. As for the shock, it is coil or piggyback compatible.

The 2011 W.F. O.9 has two options for build kits. A Shimano XT kit has a MSRP of $2678 while the SLX is priced at $2299. The frame retails for $1899 (135mm) and $2099 (150mm).
