The 2010 Gran Criterium from Masi gives a proper tribute to the 1978 model, which was used on the movie “Breaking Away”. The updated version sports a new aluminum frame and carbon rear triangle while it continues to perform smoothly with excellence.

The 1978 Gran Criterium had a Columbus steel frame. The 2011 model has a frame custom made form Masi 7005-T6 SLX with Vibration Damping System (VDS), carbon seat stays and chainstays. The paint and decals remain to give a vintage look in its 1978 style and design. The build and geometry follows to complete the classic tone of the road bike.

For 2011, go back in time with a retro-fitted steel road bike with the Masi Speciale Strada where old school meets the latest in cycling components. It retails for $875 and gives you a sarsparilla colored road bike in six sizes (49cm, 51cm, 53cm, 56cm, 58cm and 60cm).

The 2011 Masi Speciale Strada has a chromo double butted frame which was TIG welded for durability. It also has a fully chrome fork with Tektro dual pivot brakes and Shimano Tiagra components.

Making each detail count, Masi included top tube cable routing, MKS Sylvan pedals, Dura Ace downtube shifters and gum rubber hood.

The 2011 Masi Speciale Strada comes with Formula hubs, Weinmann LP-18 rims, stainless steel spokes and Kenda 700x23c tires. It also has Ritchey Logic LB headset, Masi alloy handlebar with 3-D forged stem.

The Masi 2011 Speciale Chixed uses a shorter reach, which does not compromise the quality, and you can expect the same double butted chromoly frame and fork (which is used on other fixed gear bikes from Masi). The custom track dropouts, and lugged forks add for a vintage look.

Components like the crankset, chainring, wheels, saddle, and handlebars are supplied by Brev.M. Available in sizes 47, 49, 51cm and will release in orange.

2011 will bring back the Masi Speciale with a retro theme including vintage graphics that is intended for road racing, yet is enjoyable for day commutes.

The 2011 Masi Speciale road bike highlights are a double butted chromoly frame, lugged chrome forks, and a Tiagra 9 speed groupset.

The Tiagra 9 speed groupset on the 2011 Masi Speciale uses outboard bearings, plus the compact dropouts on the frame adds more stiffness to the bike. A comfortable saddle is present, that has the Masi stamp with “Milano”, a nice look indeed.

Masi is known for releasing fixed gear and steel bikes, but in 2011 they will dip into the carbon market with the new Evoluzione series.

The Masi 2011 Evoluzione road bikes are constructed around the new Evoluzione frame and fork. Using Masi’s Total Overdrive System which fuses oversized chainstays, and BB30 bottom bracket. They have also lowered the headset by 1.5 inches with a tapered fork steerer tube, making the road bikes very stiff.

For comfort, Masi added seat stays for vertical compliance, and have made them flat horizontally but oval shape vertically.

For components, you have the choice of Shimano Dura Ace, Ultegra and Force, or SRAM 105 and Apex. Shimano models use a High Modulus frame, carbon dropouts and carbon forks. SRAM Evoluzione’s come with a Mid Modulus frame, carbon dropouts, and carbon forks. All models will have internal cable routing and internal guides.

The Masi 2011 Speciale CX Uno features a double butted frame, Kenda Small Block Eight tires, Shimano 2300 8 speed shifters, and the same frame and fork used on the Speciale CX. As of now, the 2011 Speciale CX Uno is available as a complete bike, and down the road you might be able to purchase the frame only.

The Masi – Kenda 2010 Pro Cycling Team Bike utilizes SRAM Red components, Thomson stem and seat post, Selle Italia seat, and lastly the frame is the carbon Team Issue Masi 3VC.
