The ongoing personal conflict between seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and two-time Tour winner Alberto Contador does not seem to be slowing down at all. In fact, it seems to be getting worse, as Contador apparently spread lies throughout the Spanish media. Armstrong thinks that the fame has gone to Contador’s head: “If you have just won the Tour for the second time and you are the king of Spain, it is normal that all stories are all right. His career has barely begun. Let us talk again in about fifteen years.” And of the rumors going around the media: “So many dirty things, unbelievable. Complete bulls***, pieces of slime, fat lies.” About the time trial tires rumor: “First, this is not true. Secondly, it is easy to prove. You only have to grab the phone and call the bicycle manufacturer Trek. I…

Seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong enjoyed a nice third place at this year’s Tour. However, it almost didn’t even happen, according to his team manager and friend, Johan Bruyneel. Lance suffered a broken collarbone back in March which resulted from a crash in the Vuelta Castilla y León. The injury nearly put the brakes on the star’s comeback. “If I didn’t enjoy it I wouldn’t be back. There were days that I didn’t enjoy. I had the first major crash of my career. Sitting on the side of the road in Spain, headed to an anonymous hospital, I didn’t enjoy that, and I wanted to never come back. But to be honest, it was a conversation I had with (Bruyneel), and he said, ‘You have no choice in this issue, you have to come back.’ Outside of that period, I did enjoy…

In an interview with CNN, Columbia-HTC’s owner Bob Stapleton is happy about Lance Armstrong‘s comeback, and he believes that Lance is “passing the mantle” to Mark Cavendish. “I think it is very interesting that the biggest name in the sport is embracing, and indeed passing the mantle, to the second biggest name in the sport. From Lance to Mark,” Stapleton said. “Lance’s return has brought lots of publicity back to the sport and taken it back onto the world stage. It wasn’t just Lance’s comeback, but the way he raced that was so amazing. Viewing figures for the Tour de France went up 40 per cent in the States this year and brought cycling to the attention of the world’s media, peaking at the Tour,” he added. He believes that Lance’s return hyped up other teams, encouraging them to try harder and make headlines. …

The Trek District x Lance Armstrong bike is the latest Armstrong inspired masterpiece to surface, coined “Lance District”. The mostly matte black in color bike is beautifully accented with ARMSTRONG yellow such as the carbon fiber composite yellow belt drive. Lance’s Trek District uses a carbon fiber District frame, labeled with dark gray Trek decals. Without a doubt, the bike looks outstanding. So what’s the bad news? The “Lance District” is a one of a kind and Trek has no intention of producing more – It’s only eye candy.

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong has revealed at an afternoon press conference at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona, that team RadioShack will not be based around his own individual goals. “I’m 38, going to be 39 this racing season, so it would be irresponsible to build the team around me,” Armstrong said. “We have to go in with a team approach. And at the Tour we have to look at Levi, and we have to look at Kloden, we have to look at the entire team and the tactics and the ideas that we use.” Team manager Johan Bruyneel was asked afterwards to expand on what Lance said, and his reply was “Lance is definitely the leader of the team. But we also have to be realistic. The favorite of the Tour is not on our team. To beat that favorite, we will…
