The next logical evolution for bike company Kestrel has finally arrived in the form of the 2011 Kestrel 4000 Pro SL-Ultegra. The 4000 Pro SL-Ultegra looks very different from the standard Kestrel bikes we have come to know and love, especially with the addition of the seat tube, something that has never been done in the entire bike line from Kestrel, including its predecessor the Airfoil.

Because of the introduction of the seat tube in the Ultegra’s design, the bike’s ride has experienced an increase in stiffness all around. The bike frame gets bolstered thus increasing the responsiveness yet maintains the trademark smooth ride as a result of the thin seat tube. Several sizes are available but a word of warning, though: These bikes have a low geometry so this might fit perfectly for those guys who really want to hang low.

For 2011, Kestrel Bicycles unveils the Kestrel 4000 LTD at this year’s Eurobike. There will only be 100 bicycles made of this red/white model. The Kestrel 4000 Pro will be available next spring.

The 2011 Kestrel 4000 comes with Shimano Di2 electronic shifting and weighs 19.3lbs. It has a tapered headset which is integrated 1 1/8″-1 1/4″ and 10mm carbon top cover with cable stop. It also has an integrated BB30 bottom bracket shell.

This limited edition triathlon bike is spec’d with Oval parts like the Oval TT saddle, Oval 901 Tri bar, Oval 985 front clincher and Oval 999 rear wheelset.

It uses Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX Foldable tires, carbon levers and Kestrel EVA Foam with Gel for grips. The Kestrel 4000 has a 800 K Hi-modulus carbon frame with replaceable dropouts, making this slightly stiffer than previous models.
