Giant slowly stocks up on 29ers and for 2011, the Anthem X 29er is its new baby. It features almost the same specs with a regular Anthem. It comes in three sizes with a retail price of £2950.

The Anthem X 29er has a Maestro suspension platform. It also has Giant bars, stem and post. The frame is made from Fluid Formed AluxX SL aluminum material. Other features include a tapered headtube, Fizik Antares saddle which will be color matched to the frame.

The new 29er has press-fit bottom bracket, 445 brakes and 100mm travel for its rear wheel. It is spec’d with Shimano SLX components and Fox F29 RL 100 fork.

The 2011 Giant Glory 01 is a fast-looking downhill bike. It is being introduced in its new blue and white paint job and all new graphics. It comes with the signature mark of a Giant bike, the dual link Maestro suspension. With the same floating pivot in space brought about by two short and stiff links. The frame, typical with the Giant Bike range, is of Hydroformed tubes all throughout made from the lightweight ALUXX SL FLUID aluminum. It has a tapered Head tube with the new Giant DH combo handle bar and stem and with a color matched BOXXER Team fork and uses RockShox suspension and rear shock.

Giant gives us the Faith 0 for 2011. It is a 7” freeride bike which uses the Giant dual link Maestro suspension. This is typical throughout Giant’s range. It also uses two short and stiff links creating a virtual floating pivot.

The Faith 0 is controlled by bar spin friendly RockShox’s RC2DH Totem 180mm suspension fork and RockShox’s Vivid 5.1 R2C rear shock and laced to the meaty MTX 31 rim/Giant Tracker 20mm at the front hub/Formula Disc rear hub. It also features a single ring and MRP chain guide and uses the SRAM X.9 shifters/X.9 rear derailleur with Avid Elixir CR disc brakes for immediate non-skid stopping power.

With each day, we see more and more bikes for 2011, and in another addition, we have a viewing of the Giant 2011 Bowery fixed gear, two models are available, a flat bar and drop bar.

Both the 2011 Giant Bowery fixed will feature the same retail price, and with the biggest change for 2011 is Giant using steel instead of aluminum. The direction they are taking is a vintage approach, even down to the logo on the top tube, which was originally used in the 1970s.

The drop bar Giant 2011 Bowery uses a raw and red finish, while the flat bar features white. MSRP is about $900.

This includes the TCX and the TCX Advanced SL composite bike. The TCX Advanced SL uses Shimano Dura-Ace, FSA and Giant components and will retail for $6,700.00.

The new frameset uses Giant’s Advanced SL composite material. From the raw T-800 carbon fiber, the C-Tech composite material is infused, resulting to a stiff frame, much like those used by Rabobank road professional riders.

The TCX Advanced SL has smaller diameter tubes but after applying the Finite Element Analysis (FEA), the product is a bike which can be handled easily and is more compliant to the rigors of cyclocross. It also has the integrated seatpost, overdrive headtube and fork steerer. Bearings are at 1-1/8 inch top and 1-1/4 inch bottom.

Giant comes out with at 29er for its Trance X model this 2011. The Trance X 29er retains its 100mm travel front and rear like its predecessor. It has Powercore press fit bottom bracket that allows for 2×10 or 3×10 setups. Lighter by 75 grams, the Trance X 29er has a Fox F-125mm fork which functions to create a balance for its 127mm rear travel.

The 2011 Trance X 29er allows for a 2.3” rear tire compatibility. The frame claims to have increased in stiffness by 4 percent. It also comes with a Fox Float RP23 rear shock. It weighs 2,395 grams.

Finally, the 2011 Trance X 29er has head tube angles of ½ degree slacker and cable stops should you run a remote drop post.

Giant Factory Off-road team rider Kelli Emmett, helped in the product development by giving valuable input to make the TCX W a shoo-in for women cyclocross. The TCX W will be release on August 2010 at a retail price of $1,650.00.

Abby Cooper, product developer, explains how the new frame came to be. “Everyone knows that women generally have different proportions than men. So the goal was to address women’s unique needs and provide them with a ’cross bike that would improve their experience whether they’re racing or just riding a mix of road and dirt.”
