Guido Kunze, a cyclist from Muhlhausen in the German state of Thuringia, has set a world record in October after riding his bike across southern Australia. Kunze covered 4,200 kilometers in 7 days, 19 hours, and 5 minutes. He finished almost 16 hours faster than the previous record holder, Australia’s Richard Vollenbreght. Guido’s record has been officially recognized as a Guinness World Record, promoting Polio Plus, a charity initiative of the Rotary Club International. 43-year-old Kunze rode a Ghost carbon road bike with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 electronic groupset for his world record ride.
