Mountain biking can be fun with a reliable machine like the Gary Fisher X-Caliber 29er. This mountain bike takes pride in its first-class components, an intelligently put up frame, proper geometry and a simple blue and white color scheme.

Designed with an aluminum frame, the butted and hydroformed tubing adds to the stiffness and weight efficiency of the bike. 100mm of travel is provided by the RockShox Reba range fork. Particularly for this model, an exquisite touch was added by modifying the custom geometry.

On the front and rear seat, Avid provides hydraulically operated mechanisms integrated on the large perforated disc brakes. In cyclocross, not everyone goes for carbon. There are still some who prefer steel. Trek comes out with the 2011 Fisher Presidio just for those individuals. It has a steel cross frame made from the Platinum Series that’s custom-butted and with sliding vertical dropouts. Bontrager race cross fork, FCC wheels and tires, the Presidio has a SRAM Rival drivetrain and a 10-speed Shimano cassette.

The Presidio promises a smooth ride with its cartridge bearings, FSA headset, Bontrager handlebar, stem 31.8mm and seatpost 27.2mm with zero offset. Cantilever brakes from Avid Shorty and Bontrager Evoke saddle with chromoly rails keep the cross bike lightweight and stable, ready for anything.

Technically advanced and available in six sizes, the 2011 Fisher Presidio has an MSRP of $2089.99.

Featuring G2 or Version 2 of the Genesis Geometry, the 2011 Trek Advance Hardtail from the excels with superior handling and better traction. Available in 5 sizes, the frame for the Advance is made from the Gold Series 6061 T6 aluminum with hydroformed and butted tubing. It has 100mm travel SunTour suspension fork to make climbs easy and comfortable.

24-speed Shimano drivetrain coupled with Bontrager 550 rims and LT3 ECO tires, the Advance also has Tektro brakes and Wellgo platform pedals. Gary Fisher now features a model of his 29er hardtail collection along with Trek’s support in 2011. They call it the 2011 Trek Gary Fisher “Paragon” Hardtail, which featurs the Pro Aluminum 29er frame (6066 buttered & hydroformed), E2 head tube, a press-fit BB, G2 29” in geometry.

Paragon comes in 5 sizes you can choose from. An offset crown of 51mm, 100mm travel, and custom geometry with a Fox F100 RL 29 E2 steerer forms the front suspension of the model. Bontrager completes most of the wheelset on the mtb, from the FCC front hub to the Mustang Disc 29 32/28- hole rims and tires of 29-2, 29×2.1”, and a Shimano for its rear hub.

Other components also from Bontrager are the saddle, seat post, handlebars and stem. The hydraulic brakeset is out of Avid Bixir 5, 6 bolt: G3 185mm front and 160mm rear motors.

At OutDoor Demo, Trek had a strong presence. One of the bikes we checked out was the 2011 Trek Gary Fisher Superfly Elite 29er.

In total, Trek offers three Superfly’s, two are completes, and one comes as a frameset. The Trek 2011 Gary Fisher Superfly Elite 29er is the top model in the series, which uses a similar frame from 2010. It Utilizes a Monocoque carbon G2 frame.

Featuring a SRAM X.O./PG-1070 drivetrain, various Bontrager components, and a Fox F29 RLC front suspension, the Superfly will be available this Winter for $4,729.99.

Trek Bikes presents its 2011 Gary Fisher Collection with a tag line that says “This bike can change your life and the world.” The line features the “Transport” and “Transport+” longtail cargo bikes. Both have rear load racks which can be folded, a front rack, a wide-stance kickstand, fender and a Bontrager bag. The Transport+ has front and rear lights.

The longtail cargo bike uses Avid BB5 for front brakes and Tektro V-brake for the rear. Bontrager components comprise the saddle, seat post, handle bars and stem. With Shimano drivetrain, FSA Alpha Drive crank, SRAM 8 speed cassette and Wellgo pedals, the Transport bike also has a 350 watt electric assist motor rear hub for times when you are carrying heavy load or have difficulty riding uphill. Gary Fisher’s Superfly 100 is fast, light and supremely agile. The trick that the Superfly can offer is masking the bigger wheels. They look like those 29ers but Superfly 100 can be surprisingly adept at a low speed, may it be a downhill or uphill switchback.

In combination with the bigger wheels, it has the ability to steamroll trail obstacles, plus it has a low bottom bracket. Pedaling is not a problem since it showed good performance during tests.

Regardless of its wheel diameter, the Superfly 100 can tackle technical climbs with a great prowess and at the same time maintain its degree of grip. This bike is also light, making a total weight of 11.05 kg or an awesome 24.36lb without its pedals, the bare frame and rear shock which overall weighed a good 2,170g or 4.78 lb, the Superfly100 indeed is…
