One of the forks released by Manitou for 2012 is the Circus Expert, which is loaded with superior qualities. First off is its absolute damping tuned for dirt jump. Both its 32mm straight wall 7050 stanchions and steerer are aluminum and its crown is a forged aluminum, keeping the weight low.

With its pretty stiff spring, the fork is not excessively soft but is entirely open. The fork could be ridden either on dirt or park. Moreover, the Circus Expert features many adjustments, including the air preload, compression, lockout and rebound.

Weighing in at around 2kg, the 2012 Manitou Circus Expert Forks are extremely light. Its complete lockout only compresses under pretty big impacts. Aside from its light weight, the aesthetics and strength are excellent as well.

Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that the proposed UCI stickers of approval will push through on 2011 with the coverage extending from frames, forks, handlebars, stems to cycling apparel. In theory, manufacturers can submit their product concepts and blueprints to UCI on or before January 1st of next year. UCI will look through them and give its go-signal for production that passes the level of standardization UCI is enforcing.

The approval committee will be headed by Professor Manson, vice-president of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland and also a composite expert. The approved products will be listed on th UCI website.

2009 and 2010 products can obtain backdated approval. As for the negative reception over this new process, UCI states that products carrying the UCI label of approval will be an asset to the manufacturers….

From Italian manufacturer Marzocchi this 2011 comes its Carbon 44 fork. Made for cross-country/trail, it is made with forged alloy crown and carbon fiber mold covered with a magnesium shell. It offers 150mm of travel and is 200 grams lighter than the Marzocchi 44 Micro Ti QR15.

The Carbon 44 features different steer tube options from 1-1/8″ and tapered 1-1/8″ to 1.5″. It has air volume adjustable options for weight specifications and a titanium coil negative spring to decrease the effect of friction. Tapered 32mm aluminum rods are nickel-plated and post-mount disc tabs are also incorporated in its design. It can use 15mm thru-axle dropouts only.

TST micro damping system is also used on the Carbon 44, which includes a compression threshold lock and rebound adjusters. The aluminum knobs are anodized. MSRP is $1000 with weight of 1600 grams….

Aimed for dirt jump riding, the 2011 Manitou Circus comes with a new casting and crown. The crown is made from forged aluminum to match its aluminum steerer. Manitou uses the Absolute+ damping system to fit the Jumpstack shim kit for dirt jump.

Strong and durable, the 2011 Circus has air preload adjustments, lockout and rebound, and compression adjustments. With a firm air spring and 32mm straight wall aluminum stanchions, the Circus slices across the market with 80mm, 100mm and 130mm travel configurations.

The 2011 Circus Expert weighs 4.7lbs, features a 20mm Hex Lock for hub/axle, double bottom out bumpers and 4 decal sheets. The 2011 Circus Comp weighs 5.32lbs, cromoly stanchions, firm spring with mechanical preload and 9mm dropouts for solid axle hubs.

The Durin Raceline fork from Magura is limited to 600 units in production for 2011. It features a more progressive spring rate with matching new decals.

The winning fork used by Alban Lakata of Austria, World Champion marathon 2010, the Durin Race fork saw world championships, european championships and other national titles. The Durin Raceline fork guarantees superior performance for XC racing and more.

Magura incorporated safety dropouts with 45 degree openings to fit the hub perfectly. It also has a remote control lever to make mounting simple to do, weighing only 52 grams with the cables.
