Brett Lancaster of Cervelo started the rainy stage 2 of the Amgen Tour of California 10 seconds behind. From his 87th position, Lancaster finished 1st, completing the 110.1 mile course from Davis to Santa Rosa Road with a time of 4:38:48. Liquigas’ Peter Sagan came second and Lars Boom of Rabobank came in at third place.

RadioShack’s Levi Leipheimer finished seventh while teammate Lance Armstrong reached the finish line as the 18th rider. Currently, Leipheimer holds the 12th place overall. Armstrong is 18th place overall.

For Lancaster, he is now leading over Sagan and Karl Menzies of United Healthcare with a 10 second time bonus from his win. He has a 4 second lead over them now.

Lancaster has always been a team player, supporting Heinrich Haussler and Thor Hushovd but he was happy over his win. Haussler finished in 41st place and never made it to the lead group of 26 riders…
