Sebastien Rosseler of RadioShack received his second win for 2010 at Brabantse Pijl race. He beat Thomas De Gendt of Topsport-Vlaanderen and Jurgen Van de Walle for the top spot at the Belgian semi-classic.

Rosseler began the race thinking that he was not in good form however, he worked hard and was rewarded for his best efforts. “I really didn’t think I was the strongest in the race. At first, my legs felt terrible. I did my fair share of the work in the break, but not too much. I had bad luck during the spring classics, so this helps to make up for it,” said Rosseler.

Following the trio’s lead in the race 42 seconds behind were Omega Pharma-Lotto’s Philippe Gilbert, BBox’s Thomas Voeckler and Paul Martens of Rabobank. Bjorn Leukemans of Vacansoleil finished seventh.

Due to knee injuries acquired at the Paris-Roubaix on Sunday, Stijn Devolder of Quick Step has bowed out of the Brabantse Pijl on Wednesday. There is also a likely chance that he will not be riding at the Amstel Gold Race as well.

Devolder shares that he could hardly walk on Sunday evening. His physical state did not improve on Monday. “My left leg is swollen from top to bottom. There is also blood in the joint. I must have done something serious. My right knee is also swollen. But compared to the other one, it is peanuts,” said Devolder.

Still, Devolder rode for a one-hour training ride to test his knees and legs. The result was disappointing. “Every bump in the road gave a sharp, shooting pain,” said the 30-year-old cyclist.

The team’s doctor ordered Devolder to rest and this led to his pull out from the Brabantse Pijl. Devolder had hopes…
