The legendary Chiorda brand will get a relaunch within the opening quarter of 2011 thanks to F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi S.P.A.

Chiorda began its life in the 1950s and is one of the most historical Italian brands for cycling and has been actively involved in the cycling scene from 1963 to 1972. Now noted brand Bianchi will be breathing new life into its former partner Chiorda.

The brand was part of the legendary Felice Gimondi’s early career and his victories at the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana, Paris-Roubaix and even the Giro d’Italia. Chiorda was also instrumental in Marino Basso of Italy gaining his Road World Champion title in 1972.

New Chiorda colors and models will soon be revealed to the market….

Italian bicycle manufacturer Bianchi, together with the Androni Giocattoli team, is gearing up for the road racing season for 2011 in a bid for total domination. The Androni team’s riders will be joining the competition equipped with their special 2011 Bianchi Oltre Pro, starting with the Tour de San Luis in Argentina set for January 17 to 23. The Argentinian race will also become the stage for the official debut of the Oltre model.

The riding team has given its thumbs up on the performance of the Oltre, citing in particular the frames capability for ease in riding and rigidity as well as the Oltre’s dynamic new aero shape design, which spells efficiency for the new bike model. Placing 17th overall for the 2010 UCI World Ranking, the Gianni Savio managed Androni team is looking for a higher ranking this year with the help of the Oltre’s superior output.

Bianchi has a long history in cycling, 125 years worth. This not only shows within the Bianchi bicycle line, but in its apparel too, including four new cycling caps Bianchi released.

The four new Bianchi cycling caps are the Classic, Vintage, Celeste and Italian Championship. All the caps live up to their names.

The Classic cycling cap is made of Bianchi’s timeless wool jersey material and comes in white/blue. The Vintage cap uses white/black as its colors and is made of cotton. The Celeste cap is Bianchi’s traditional cap, with the logo placed across the front. Last but not least is the Italian Championship cap, featuring the Italy flag colors and the Bianchi logo under the bill, on the front, and sides.

This year, Bianchi celebrates 125 years of cycling. Commemorating this huge milestone, Bianchi released a pair of socks.

The Bianchi 125th Anniversary Socks are a collaborative effort with Sock Guy, who is known for its active wear socks. The collabo’ sock features “125″ in green, white and red (Italy’s flag colors), Bianchi logo by the heel, Celeste green markings, and Sock Guy branded by the toes.

The 2011 Bianchi Puch Green bike made an appearance at the 2010 EICMA; the EICMA is an event held in Milan from November 2nd through the 7th.

The pedal assisted Bianchi Puch Green hybrid was located at “Green Planet”, a special area for hybrid and electric vehicles. What many were most impressed with was the Panasonic motor engine, which powered the Bianchi Puch, and its creative design.

In total, 968 visitors came by the booth and tested the Puch Green Bike. Distribution is said to be in the 5,000 range for the Italian market in the next six months….

Bianchi now comes with its latest road models, namely the 2011 Infinito Athena, Infinito Ultegra and the Infinito.

The three variations of the Infinito are equipped with a couple of similar parts–a customized Fi’Zi:k Aliante Delta saddle, FSA SL-K Carbon- 31.6mm seatpost and an FSA Wing Compact handlebar, which has custom color and graphics, and its frameset.

Integrated brake levers, a headset by FSA Orbit CE plus, Bianchi FF35 K-Vid full carbon with Kevlar of 1 1/8”, Infinito Carbon K-Vid with Kevlar inserts are all found on the three bikes, too.

When it comes to the sprocket, Infinito Ultegra and Infinito 105 possess the same kind of Shimano 105 10sp 12/25, while Infinito Athena uses the Campagnolo Chorus 11sp UD 12/25.

Despite the similarities across Bianchi’s three models, there are plenty of differences–of course–such as brakes, chain, crankset, shifters, front and rear derailleurs. Infinito Athena and Ultegra come with the same…
