A new 29er prototype bike this 2011 is the Cotic Solaris. Making the bike an outstanding item among the competitions is its light steel hardtail frame. Enhanced to match bigger wheels, its geometry is designed around an 80-120mm fork up front.

As a unique bike, the Cotic has a potential for different travel rocker links and different travel front and rear. Though new on the market, this bike is one of the first frames to feature the new oversized steerer standards.

Though it is not from a big company, the 2011 Cotic Solaris 29er Prototype features great components and design that helped it get the attention of the cycling population. The Cotic is just one of the few bikes that managed to feature a full susser design from scratch.

2011 Highball Carbon 29er

2011 highball carbon 29er 2011 Highball Carbon 29er

Extremely light and sharp, the 2011 Highball Carbon 29er is the ideal bike for riders who are looking for race and championship. Highball is a very agile, stiff and surefooted hard tail 29er bike. Aside from its 2.45 pounds carbon frame, the Highball also features a standard bottom bracket shell and seat post.

With 17.3 inches, the chain stays of the bike are nicely short. Keeping its stiffness is the traditional 1.5 external lower bearing, and a 1 1/8th internal upper, which also keeps stack height and a favorably low handle bar height.

Curved for wheel slamming capability, the long and straight seat tube allows for an enhanced seat post insertion. The 2011 Highball Carbon 29er is also designed to be very light, stiff, and strong, thanks to the dropouts and disc tabs molded into frame during an excellent one piece layup process.

It has been previously noted that Banshee is currently working on a 29er. It is said to be called the 2012 Banshee Prime. 50 frames are to be tested and will undergo the same process as the Legend Mkl. The Prime is intended to be a 29er, which is strong and stiff specially designed for excellent mountain riding of all aspects. The 130mm travel of the Prime will seem to be more like 150 to 160mm if you are used to riding 29ers.

The Banshee Prime will be most playful due to its planned aggressive seat angle and short chainstays but with optimized weight distribution to manage control during technical climbs. Stability and control on high speed descents is one of the targeted objectives to achieve because of its low geometry.

The Prime’s suspension linkage uses the best elements of the VF4B link but minimizes the rotation of the shock…

2011 Turner Sultan

For 2011, Turner Bikes made a few changes with its Sultan XC/trail bike. The 120mm of travel with the dw-link suspension system went under review to ensure that the relationship of the dw-link placing, bottom bracket height and chainstay length goes well. The goal is to have the power transfer go smoothly through the 29-inch wheels.

These changes include a 44mm head tube that allow for a Cane Creek 1.5″ external cup and inset 1 1/8″ upper cup. Now in anodized paint finish, the Sultan can also be fitted with a 1 1/8″ steer tube with an inset Cane Creek headset.

Another modification was the lowered bottom bracket. With a possibility of using a 140mm travel fork, Turner also tweaked the junction of the seat tube and top tube.

MSRP with a trail kit build is $4499. The frame kit MSRP is $2450.
