Dubbed to be the lightest carbon hardtail, the Scott Scale 899 comes in just under 900g (899g), lighter and stiffer than the previous Scale bike from Scott. Several changes for 2011 include a taller tapered headtube by 5mm, lower bottom bracket height by 10mm and a new Shock Damping System for rear stays, which was used on the Scott CR1 model.
Other features for the 2011 Scott Scale 899 are disc mounts, integrated seat clamp and one-piece SDS chainstays and seatstays. It also has carbon dropouts and an improved integrated molding process or IMP. This resulted in combining the top tube, downtube and headtube molded into one. This meant having less carbon material on the inside of the frame.
The 2011 Scott Scale 899 also has a standard press-fit bottom bracket with options of BB30 or BB92.
