The architecture was handled by Hopkins Architects, who got the job done on time within its budget. The company designed the velodrome with a green mind. Its ability to reuse rainwater and make the best of natural light is a key feature of it roof design.

As one of the first structures to be completed for this year’s Olympic games, the velodrome is already being used. And with every bit of news leading up to the big day, we’re growing more excited.

Bianchi and the fashionable Gucci team up for a small bicycle line in 2012.

Two models will be available at select Gucci retail stores, both built for the city with the black carbon fiber monocoque model being able to handle a bit of off-roading.

Each model uses a Binachi frame dressed in a Gucci green-red-green web stripe. Aside from that, aesthetics are minimal, raising the question if these designer bikes are worth the US$14,000 they cost.

On the high end of the eBike spectrum is the Street Racer by EH. Dubbed the “Ferrari of Electric Bikes” by the company behind it, the US$9,250 eBike can handle speeds of up to 28mph.

The Street Racer is quite a looker. Composed of aluminum, the body comes colored to taste. (More images of the bike in different colors after the jump.) It’s design is more on the race-type front than most other eBikes, which tend to sport a contemporary look.

EH designed its eBike with a BionX motor, capable of a training mode that simulates gradients on a ride. The motor is also able to recharge the battery it uses on descends. Without the motor, the Street Racer weighs in at a staggering 35lbs, placing it in the heavy pedal-bicycle category.

Petzl Nao Rechargeable Headlamp with Reflective Lighting

Petzl has a new headlamp that pushes the bar, using out of this world technology.

The Pezl Nao Headlamp adjusts it’s two LEDs automatically, allowing you to have a longer battery life, all due to the reflective lighting.

If your cycling at night, the Nao will project a high powered beam that will shine afar. If your in your backyard with minimal lighting, the Nao will adjust to a low powered yet wide beam.

So what is reflective lighting? There are two types of headlamps in the market now known as declining mode and constant mode. Declining mode could have you with minimal lighting when you need the most, while constant mode only runs for a limited amount of time. Reflective lighting will take the best of both headlamps available; strength and lifespan of light.
