2011 Northwave Touring Shoes

2011 northwave touring shoes 2011 Northwave Touring Shoes

Northwave has released touring shoes for 2011, which are also ideal for audaxing, commuting, and regular sport or leisure riding. With its road shoe style, the shoes are firm enough to make pedaling as nice as possible.

Though stylish enough in its black overall with white and gray highlights, this practical touring and audax shoe is not complete worry-free. Its three-strap Velcro closure, for example, does not allow easy adjustment as much as ratchet closures do.

Furthermore, cleat compatibility can be an issue, especially if the pedals are not Shimano SPDs. To some riders, the cleat bolt or insole can be a source of nuisance. However, the 2011 Northwave Touring Shoes are easier to walk in compared to typical road shoes. The shoes have a nicer and stiffer sole, too.

2012 GT Performer Mountain Bike

Included in the 2012 GT mountain bike lineup is the Performer. Beautifully designed, this bike is a kind of a cruiser BMX/single-speed mountain bike with a retro style. Its traditional high-tensile steel frame tubes and cromo fork are meant to bring the riders decades back.

By mixing into the back end some high-tensile steel, the bike puts some more economy to the package while still keeping all the style. Other features include two sets of oversized pegs, stamped tube caps, and a standard three-piece crank without the alloy chain wheel.

With its nostalgic retro touch, the 2012 GT Performer Mountain Bike is definitely a hot machine. On the other hand, while the retro style works for most riders, the plain seat pillar with a separate clamp may not be a thing of beauty for everyone.

GT will offer an alloy version of its Fury Carbon downhill bike for 2012. With the aim to bring more people into gravity riding and racing, GT has created The Fury as a performance driven bike and that applies to both the carbon and alloy models.

The geometry and suspension design of the Fury carbon and alloy bikes are exactly the same. Starting the Ruckus 7 frame, the allow model adopts the carbon geometry and 210mm of suspension travel. The gussets of the proprietary 6000-series monocoque alloy front end are larger than that of a freeride bike.

Adjustable rebound is offered Marzocchi’s basic 888 and Rocco R fork and damper while braking is handled by Avid’s Elixir 3s with 200mm rotors. Aside from its alloy frame, new cold forged pivot block assembly, and lower price, the 2012 GT Fury Alloy is just a duplicate of the original carbon model.
