These new graphic decals are made for cyclists who want their deep dish rims get head-turning looks. The designs are flexible in various sizes to fit different wheels and rims like the Zipp 404, Zipp 808 and Velocity.

The new Ring of Fire wheeltags come in an Edge to Edge style. It allows sizes for deep rims of 16mm, 25mm, 38mm, 60mm or disc. It is also available in 650c and comes in color red.

Brownlee recovery in progress 300x300   Brownlee Recovery in ProgressAlistair Brownlee, 22, is making good headway to recovery from a femoral stress fracture. The reigning ITU Champion is now running about to get into shape for his 2010 season.

It was in late February when Brownlee was diagnosed to have a femoral stress fracture. This made him sit out the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU Championship Series in Sydney as well as in Seoul. Brownlee is now in training and hopes that he will be ready in time for the Series in Madrid.

Brownlee shares, “I am at last doing all three sports and am progressing my running slowly. I have also been doing a lot of rehab and gym work. I hope to be training normally in about three weeks time, and then I will make a decision about racing in Madrid.”

Brownlee currently holds the title as the first triathletes to win world championships in three categories, Junior (2006), U-23 (2008)…

To add, GE will also give support to British Triathlon Elite events, Elite Paratriathlon team, Age Group teams, home nation regional academies and the British Triathlon Coach Development program.

GE will be working side by side with the 50 athletes which includes the Brownlee brothers, Hollie Avil (Women’s U-23 Champion) and Helen Jenkins (2008 Women’s World Champion) to find methods and means to support the athletes.

The partnership promises to bring better ways to help improve the teams. The goal is to maximize the potential of each athlete, to find ways for early detection of any damage from the sport and efficient treatment for injuries.

stoltz and vanlandingham are xterra west champions 1 233x300   Stoltz and Vanlandingham are XTERRA West ChampionsThe XTERRA West Championship off-road triathlon proclaimed Conrad Stoltz and Shonny Vanlandingham victors at the Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort, Hendersonm Nevada.

Stoltz retells how difficult the Vegas course was, with its steep uphills and downhills that could have easily daunted any athlete. “I rode as hard as I could today on this very rough and rocky and slippery desert surface.”

Stoltz took away the gold from Josiah Middaugh with a time of 2:06:47. The 39 second gap between the two was for the stop Middaugh had to make to fix a flat tire on his bike. Middaugh also recently recovered from an injury. “It felt really good out there and I think it’s safe to say that I’m back,” said Middaugh.

Rounding up the podium at third place was Brian Smith, who mirrored his performance this year with his results at the 2008 West Championship.

The 15th edition of the ITU Triathlon World Cup Ishigaki was won by Valentin Meshcheryakov of Russia. This was his first World Cup title. He finished five seconds ahead of Yuichi Hosoda of Japan with a time of 1:54:02. The bronze medal goes to Japan’s Ryosuke Yamamoto.

It was a tight race with Australia’s Clayton Fettell who got out of the water first and into the transition. He was followed by another group that included Meshcheryakov. Fettell tried to keep his lead on the bike at the second lap of the seven-lap bike ride and succeeded.

With a two minute advantage, Fettell did his best to maintain first on the run but struggled as Aussie David Dellow, Hosoda, Yamamoto and Manuel Huerta of USA came up behind him at an energized pace. Soon the lead pack were Meshcheryakov, Hosoda and Yamamoto.

The gold went to the 39-year-old Japanese Kiyomi Niwata, three-time Olympian. Liz Blatchford of Great Britain took the silver while Tomoko Sakimoto of Japan got the bronze.

Leading the swim course was Chie Nakashima (JPN) but a chase group caught up with her on the first lap of the bike course. It was a compact race until Niwata, Blatchford and Sakimoto distanced themselves from the group. On the final lap of the run, Sakimoto tried to keep up with Blatchford and Niwata but couldn’t do so. Niwata and Blatchford raced nck to neck for the finish but Niwata gained momentum and pulled away from Blatchford.

The Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas will be on April 25 at Galveston Island. The event which was formerly known as Ironman 70.3 Lone Star boasts a prize purse of $75,000. This lured several Ironman world champions and Olympic silver and bronze medalists. Top age group and pro finishers will be included for the 50 slots available for the 2010 Foster Grant Ironman world Championship 70.3.

The men’s race highlights the presence of Andy Potts who won the Ironman 70.3 New Orleans, Terenzo Bozzone and Chris Lieto who was runner up for 2009 Ford Ironman World Championsip. Richie Cunningham of Australia will also be there as with many other premiere triathletes. The winner of the race will definitely have his work cut out for him.
