2011 seems to be a great year for Giro, first they debut the Xar Helmet, but a new retention system called Roc Loc 5 will appear on the 2011 models.

Comparing the Roc Loc 5 to the previous retention device, the Roc Loc 5 is 40% lighter. More importantly, you can adjust the system with one hand, plus better vertical adjustment. Tested well over 6,000 cyclists in the Giro lab, and the verdict was the system is more durable. Six different road and mountain bike helmets will release in 2011 from Giro, which will use the Roc Loc 5.

The 2011 Giro road helmets are the Ionos, Atmos, Advantage 2, and Saros. 2011 Giro mountain helmets include the Xar, Athlon, and Hex.

First off we have Giro flagship helmet, the Ionos, which retails for $235. 2011 Ionos is the lightest (due to the Roc Loc 5) and…

The LeMond Revolution Bike Trainer works as a resistance trainer, and uses HIT which stands for High Inertia Technology plus it works with a large weighted flywheel that acts as a rolling bicycle, will spin freely, and adds wind resistance just like you are riding on the open roads. Containing a overall natural feel, even when slowing down you won’t feel lag.

Inspired by the wind resistance trainer that Greg LeMond used while partaking in the Tour de France. “Bike trainers have to be comfortable and must directly lead to better performance on the road in order to be effective,” said LeMond. “Alternative magnetic, fluid and mechanical trainers create resistance that feels like…

Used recently by Alberto Contador at the prologue and final time trial on the 97th Tour de France, the new pedal system proved to stay true to its name as an aerodynamic advantage on the road.
The prototype pedal system will have the same look and mechanisms that drive the current Keo Blade but features a different design specified to have aerodynamic performance due to a smoother lower area on the pedal. The Look Keo Blade Aero weighs 200 grams, making it slightly heavier than the current 195g Keo Blade. The increase was due to its new shape and material used. There’s much to look forward to for 2011’s Tour de France and despite the scandals and controversies, it remains the most exciting race of the year.

The 97th Tour de France saw Alberto Contador of Astana taking the crown without a stage win. Amidst all the controversy, Contador raised the bar after winning for the third time. Contador shares, “It was a Tour where I had a lot of pressure, especially physically as I was not at my best form. It took a lot of confidence to face difficult situations…The three victories were very different. The first, in 2007, was special, because that was the first; last year, the situation was difficult and this made it difficult. And this year I had difficult moments; but I could count on a strong team. I realize…
