2011 seems to be a great year for Giro, first they debut the Xar Helmet, but a new retention system called Roc Loc 5 will appear on the 2011 models.
Comparing the Roc Loc 5 to the previous retention device, the Roc Loc 5 is 40% lighter. More importantly, you can adjust the system with one hand, plus better vertical adjustment. Tested well over 6,000 cyclists in the Giro lab, and the verdict was the system is more durable. The innovative wheel sensor technology producer SoundOfMotion has introduced the VeloComputer Bluetooth bicycle Sensor Version 3.6 of its series of 1 degree precision this July 2010. The sensor is meant to be mounted on a rear wheel along the chainstay of a bike to inclusively accommodate the wheel and pedal strokes sensors set into one component. It has a 1 degree accuracy and cadence during pedal operation. It uses the classic Bluetooth 2.0 in sending cycling data to the VeloComputer mobile application.
The sensor reacts to a magnetic field from a magnet installed to the wheel and transmits the angle of rotation with a 1 degree precision and accuracy. Amplifying the magnetic field are two smaller magnets mounted on opposites sides of a wheel maintaining balance. This makes SoundOfMotion far more advance than any traditional cycling computers.

Two additions were made to the Lance Armstrong Collection for The Giro Ionos Helmet. The new models come in matte red and titanium colorway and a matte yellow and black colorway with Lance Armstrong’s signature on the helmets.
They feature Giro’s new RocLoc 5 retention system which has a micro-adjusting dial which is easy to use. A simple twist of the dial opens the retention system of the helmet. It also has ergonomic arms to accommodate Giro eyewear, and a 15mm vertical bracket which you can adjust without removing your helmet.
