2011 Salsa Spearfish

2011 salsa spearfish 300x169 2011 Salsa Spearfish

Salsa Cycles introduces its newest full suspension platform, the Spearfish. This model is designed for endurance racing long rides. The frame is shaped with hydroformed EV6 tubing and can fit tires up to 2.25 inches. The weight for the Spearfish comes just under 6lbs even for a 29er frame.

The 2011 Salsa Spearfish rear triangle is shaped to allow for seatstays to flex during suspension cycles. This modification means no rear stay pivots. The frame also optimizes 100mm travel for the front fork and 80mm travel for the rear. It features a tapered headtube, press-fit BB30 bottom bracket and can fit 3×9 or 2×10 speed drivetrains.

Salsa Cycles releases the 2011 Spearfish with MSRP of $999 for the frame and $2250 for a complete build with RockShox Reba fork, tubeless rims and SRAM X7/X9 components. Availability will be in December.

2011 Fuji Outland 3.0, 2.0, 1.0 MTB

For 2011, Fuji redesigned their Outland mountain bikes, which consists of the 3.0, 2.0, and 1.0.

The 2011 Fuji Outland is your all purpose mtb, but is geared towards cross country. In 2010, the Outland used 100mm of travel, but in 2011 it will use 125mm.

Another new feature for the 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 2011 Fuji Outland is the low pressure shock, which is easier to tune, and will last longer.

The rocker is 3D, and keyed. What this means is when the bolt is out of the rocker arms, it will not stick.

Fuji assured us that any pressure applied to the rear end would not result in the 2011 Outland’s seat stay getting any closer to the seat post, which happens to many full suspension mountain bikes. After attempting to do so twice, we gave up.

Now it is time to go over the specific models in the 2011…

Rocky Mountain celebrates it 30th Anniversary with the release of two limited edition hardtail mountain bikes, the Blizzard 30th and Vertex T.O. 30th for 2011.

When we said limited we mean it. The 2011 Rocky Mountain 30th Anniversary bikes are limited to 30 each. Using both original bikes when Rocky Mountain started, they are also taking it further by bringing parts in from original partner Race Face and adding an original Selle Italia Flite saddle.

Both the 2011 Blizzard 30th and Vertex T.O. 30th use the most popular color schemes released by Rocky Mountain, giving both bikes a nostalgia feel, but updated with current components.

You can expect both the Blizzard 30th and Vertex T.O. 30th to come with Rock Shox SID RLT, Shimano XT Drivetrain, brakes and hubs, and Race Face Deus Cockpit. Check with your local Rocky Mountain retailer about purchasing a piece of history.
