Dubbed to be the lightest carbon hardtail, the Scott Scale 899 comes in just under 900g (899g), lighter and stiffer than the previous Scale bike from Scott. Several changes for 2011 include a taller tapered headtube by 5mm, lower bottom bracket height by 10mm and a new Shock Damping System for rear stays, which was used on the Scott CR1 model.

Other features for the 2011 Scott Scale 899 are disc mounts, integrated seat clamp and one-piece SDS chainstays and seatstays.
