USA Cycling Elections for 2010 300x175   New Rules for 2010 Cyclocross SeasonThe 2010-2011 Cyclocross season will see some changes which was approved by the Road, Track & Cyclocross Board of Trustees of USA Cycling today. The new changes brought about by new rules, will accomplish the following:
1. Modification on course obstacles
2. Cyclocross feeding rules
3. Handling of Lapped riders

Here is a brief overview:
On the course obstacles, wooden planks can be 40cm or below. The distance between planks can be increased from 4 meters to 6 meters. Obstacles remain 10% of the total course but there will be six artificial obstacles. Sand is now allowed with strict specifications that it must only be 40-60 meters long.

On feeding, the food should be at least 68° F and food distribution and eating at the service lane area only. Feeding is not allowed during the first two laps and the last two laps.

On lapped riders, they can finish together with the race leader. No lapped rider can cross…

The new suits comes in two versions, the lycra made and the thermal. Both can be customized to your preference and are part of the Castelli Servizio Corse. Once ordered, the delivery will be in 8 weeks. There’s no fixed price due to the customization but the cheapest price tag for the Lycra is $135 while the thermal version will be at $145.

Castelli specifically designed the CX suits to match the needs of a cyclocross enthusiast. The CX suit has a KISS3 padding, longer length for the body, additional shoulder room and a higher neckline to keep you warm. It uses a large rubber zipper to close and is extremely lightweight.

The 2011 Breed for singlespeed, was only relaunched for 2011 but did not undergo any changes. Felt’s brand manager Dave Koesel felt that it was a great model as it is. “Why mess with a good thing?” said Koesel. The 2011 Felt Breed will retail for $949 for its singlespeed design, aluminum frame, Tektro brakes and stainless steel inserts in rear dropouts. The bike will come with a BeerNuts tool. The color scheme is black and Belgian blue.

The Felt F15X features a new BB30 shell and modified chainstays. It has a Easton fork, replaced the SRAM S500 crank to the carbon S900 and TRP brakes. The retail price for the F15X is $2799 with SRAM Red components. It comes in the color of Liquid gray and black.

The Masi 2011 Speciale CX Uno features a double butted frame, Kenda Small Block Eight tires, Shimano 2300 8 speed shifters, and the same frame and fork used on the Speciale CX. As of now, the 2011 Speciale CX Uno is available as a complete bike, and down the road you might be able to purchase the frame only.

The Redline 2011 Conquest will now com equipped with a carbon fiber fork, this of course is the lighten the front, and for a smoother ride. Another addition is the Kore Gradient II wheels, and Kenda small black 8 tires. Other features are Kore Race+ brakes, Shimano Tiagra 9 speed levers, and 105 rear derailleur. You can also purchase the 2011 Redline Conquest as a frameset. Wighing in at 20.11 pounds, with a MSRP OF $1299.00.

Velocity is getting prepared to release a tubular rim for cyclocross, and presented is a spy shot. Known as the Major Tom, Velocity will offer them in rims and wheelsets.

Velocity Major Tom tubular rims measure 23mm wide, 21mm deep, and 11mm brake track. Weighing in at 432 grams for the rim. Weight on the wheelset is not available yet.
