Franny Armstrong, a film maker and climate change activist, was walking home when a group of hooded girls approached her, one of them holding an iron bar. She screamed out for help to a cyclist who was passing by, who happened to be Boris Johnson, the mayor of London! Armstrong says;
“He said to the girls, ‘What do you think you are doing?’ He picked up the iron bar, called after the girls and cycled after them.”
Yes, that’s right; the mayor of London chased some would-be attackers – on a bike – and saved a woman. A few minutes later, he returned and escorted Armstrong home. Armstrong admits that she voted for Johnson’s rival, Ken Livingstone, in the 2008 mayoral election, but she says:

On July 4th, 2008, former Emergency Room Doctor Christopher Thomas Thompson was involved in an incident on Mandeville Canyon Rd in Los Angeles where he was accused of stopping his car in front of two cyclists. One of the cyclists went through the rear window, and the other flipped over the car and landed in the road. The cyclists say that there was another incident on the same road, where they barely avoided hitting the rear of Dr. Thompson’s car. Today, Dr. Thompson was found guilty of charges of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving causing specified bodily injury, battery with serious bodily injury, and mayhem. He was handcuffed immediately following the verdict was read, and is being held without bail until sentencing. Dr. Thompson is facing up to five years in prison.
