2012 Campagnolo 11 Speed Time Trial Components
Campagnolo returns with a new set of components for time trial bikes in the form of the 2012 Campagnolo 11 Speed Time Trial Components.
The new components from Campagnolo features derailleurs for time trial bikes. It consists of time trial specific fixed gears, including bar-end shifters, base-bar brake levers, brake calipers and a crankset both perfect for configurations ranging from 10 speed and 11 speed.
The time trial bar-end shifters can be bought in two forms, either in 155g carbon or 167g aluminum for the 11-speed models while the 10 speed variant carries only the aluminum bar-end shifter. Either way, both shifters feature the “Back to Zero Position” which helps bring the lever back to its starting point and parallel to the wind after each and every shift similar to how the SRAM R2C aero shifters work. The 2012 models are definitely adjustable for comfort and ergonomic.
Three cogs can also be shifted in any direction with all but a single lever swing while an internal spring also lessens the shifting force required. To help trim the rubbing action in the front derailleur in any and all combinations, the set from Campagnolo also features a nifty left lever with micro indexing click. The cables are routed externally instead of being placed at the center of the bar-end plug which helps make cable installation easier and better.
The set sports a crankset with oversized TT chainrings, which resembles the Campagnolo crankset with 53/39 chainrings. The 2012 set for time trial bikes also feature X.P.S.S. technology or Extreme Performance Shifting System shift ramps and rivets which has been separated by eight upshifting and two downshifting zones on the chainring as well as better and more efficient tooth shapes which, are intended to provide consistent and accurate shifting regardless of the load and the size.
The set will feature the Campagnolo superlight aero-profile brake levers for base bars with integrated quick release buttons, which are available in 85 gram carbon or in aluminum form with a 106 gram version.
No price has been announced for the new set from Campagnolo which will feature all of this and much much more.
