The legendary Chiorda brand will get a relaunch within the opening quarter of 2011 thanks to F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi S.P.A.

Chiorda began its life in the 1950s and is one of the most historical Italian brands for cycling and has been actively involved in the cycling scene from 1963 to 1972. Now noted brand Bianchi will be breathing new life into its former partner Chiorda.

The brand was part of the legendary Felice Gimondi’s early career and his victories at the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana, Paris-Roubaix and even the Giro d’Italia. Chiorda was also instrumental in Marino Basso of Italy gaining his Road World Champion title in 1972.

Italian bicycle manufacturer Bianchi, together with the Androni Giocattoli team, is gearing up for the road racing season for 2011 in a bid for total domination. The Androni team’s riders will be joining the competition equipped with their special 2011 Bianchi Oltre Pro, starting with the Tour de San Luis in Argentina set for January 17 to 23. The Argentinian race will also become the stage for the official debut of the Oltre model.

The riding team has given its thumbs up on the performance of the Oltre, citing in particular the frames capability for ease in riding and rigidity as well as the Oltre’s dynamic new aero shape design, which spells efficiency for the new bike model. Placing 17th overall for the 2010 UCI World Ranking, the Gianni Savio managed Androni team is looking for a higher ranking this year with the help of the Oltre’s superior output.
