Citec releases an innovative design to merge the benefits of a carbon wheelset with a metal braking surface in its 6000 CX Carbon Tubular Wheelset Clincher. Light yet durable, the carbon tubular wheelset has an aluminum braking surface and a rim depth of 50mm.

The metal strip on the braking surface is replaceable and the wheelset also features hidden nipples for better aerodynamics. (The internal nipples are located inside the carbon rim.) The front wheel has 12 black bladed spokes, wide flanges with an anodized 3-part front hub for lateral stiffness. It also features sealed cartridge bearings.

The rear wheel features anodized 2-part rear/hub attached to a HyperFlange hub with 16 bladed spokes. It has sealed bearings, a DT Swiss 240 S aluminium body compatible with Shimano 8/9/10-speed.

The production was supposed to be limited only to Yeti‘s employees but soon the demand for the 2011 ARC-X was overpowering. Made from 7005 aluminum alloy, hydroformed tubes, the ARC-X is a ‘cross bike that’s responsive and comfortable through mud trails and rough terrain.

TIG welded for a lightweight bike, the ARC-X has contoured seatstays and chainstays with a shoulder mount incorporated on the top tube. The slight curve makes it easy for shouldering as it’s the goal of its “full loop” design. It features a 68mm bottom bracket shell with 113mm spindle.

Yeti equips the ARC-X with SRAM Apex components that allows only cantilever brakes. It has a 27.3mm seatpost and can fit 700x40c tires. The Van Dessel Gin and Trombones cyclocross bike underwent several modifications for 2011. Made from 7005 triple-butted aluminum alloy, the tubes are TIG welded for a lighter build and has seatstays made from carbon fiber.

To match the frame, the Gin and Trombones have a cross-specific carbon fiber fork and a tapered 1.5″ headtube. The headtube has a thick gusset to make it more rigid. An oversized downtube and oval shaped top tube gives way to wide chainstays, giving the Gin and Trombones ‘cross bike great front and rear mud clearance.

Another modification for the 2011 model is having the cable housing of the rear derailleur run from the top tube to the derailleur, making it free from any hindrances. It is now fitted for BB30 press-fit bearings or an option for the traditional 68mm threading.

Full Speed Ahead (FSA) issued a voluntary recall of its non-drive Gossamer BB30 series crankarms. This was due to reports that say its crankarms can crack and break should it be overtightened than the recommended torque specification.

The BB30 series affected are those that have serial numbers beging with 10B, 10C and 10D, found on the backside of the crankarm, near the pedal threads. If you find that your crankarm is tagged for recall, find your local dealer to have it replaced and fitted for a new FSA issue.

Unaffected crankarms are MegaExo, Gossamer BB30 Drive and Gossamer BB30 Triple cranksets. Some bikes with the Gossamer BB30 non-drive are:
