November 23rd was a great day for Trek. The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted Trek a patent on the Active Braking Pivot (ABP) suspension system (patent number #7,837,213).

Created by Trek suspension engineers Dylan Howes, Jose Gonzalez, and James Colegrove, ABP is the first of its kind to separate braking and suspension forces.

Trek’s Active Braking Pivot project started in 2006 and released to the public in 2007. Since 2007, ABP is offered through the 2011 Trek full suspension line.

For excellent control and steering performance, Specialized included X-Fusion 170mm-travel coil-sprung fork and 20mm thru-axle. As with its name, the Big Hit I can take a hits with its low-rise 750mm alloy bars with 8-degree backsweep and 31.8mm clamp. Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes and ergo levers with G3 Clean Sweep rotors for precise stopping power.

Back in March, Google launched cycling directions for the United States. Now in November, nine cities in Canada will experience Google directions leading to local bike paths and lanes. The rest of Canada will have basic cycling directions that will direct you to roads with less traffic.

The nine cities with the better version of Google cycling directions are Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna, Ottawa, Gatineau, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Waterloo.

If you notice an error, Google asks for you to use the reporting tool so they can fix it. You can also suggest cycling routes to be included….
