Schwalbe will be releasing its latest race tires, Ultremo ZX and ZLX, by the end of 2010. Marcus Hachmeyer, technician for Schwalbe, claims the ZX to be the best Ultremo yet. Weighing in at 195g, the Ultremo ZX features the RaceStar Triple Compound and HD Speed Guard technology from Schwalbe.
The RaceStar Triple Compound is an advanced arrangement of three unique compounds to produce flexible tire that has low rolling resistance and maximum grip. Hachmeyer explains, “The shoulder compound has great adhesion properties. It is very flexible, remaining in contact with the road surface while absorbing bumps and so does not lose traction under severe cornering.”
The High Density Speed Guard comes from a patented technology developed by Warwick Mills and Schwalbe. Schwalbe’s Aramid HD Guard gets a tune-up with this innovative technology. “It is the finest and densest fabric on the market. No other bicycle tire protection belt gets anywhere near its weave density,” Hachmeyer said.
The Ultremo ZLX has the same make with the ZX minus the protection belt. It comes in lighter than the ZX in 160g and is ideal for TT or Triathlon use.
