For those seeking a 5 inch travel bike, Pivot Cycles will satisfy your needs with its 2011 Mach 5.
The 2011 Pivot Mach 5 is built for balance. The Mach 5 features a 2.25 stroke shock on a medium frame, DW Link equaling a 30% sag. With a combination of stiffness, pedal efficiency, and just the right amount of travel the 2011 Mach 5 can handle most of the roughest terrains.
Two highlights for the Pivot 2011 Mach 5 are the welds and headset. For the welds, a combination of traditional and smooth welds are used. This achieves a smooth, snag free look while reducing stress. The headset is a zero stack standard while using cups, but is larger in diameter with the cups fitting inside the headtube. Pivot chose this setup for two reasons: to shorten the headset height and strengthen the setup.
Complete builds for the 2011 Mach 5 high points are the option of Shimano XT Dyna Sys, XTR Dyna-Sys, and XX 10 speed drivetrains.
