Garneau Vorttice Aerodynamic Helmet
Louis-Garneau brings to you Vorttice, the aerodynamic helmet which aims to make you go faster. The Vorttice is a result from a balance of expert training and feedback from athletes worldwide. It has a design that maximizes the aerodynamic features of the helmet. Patent for the helmet is still pending though.
The Vorttice features the dimpled technology on the front, allows the airflow to be close to the helmet, hugging over the dents when hitting the vortex generator at the top of the helmet. The shape of the Vorttice lets it take on wind that comes from different directions without slowing you down.
It also has a direct air intake or main vent on the front, at the highest pressure point, which takes in the blunt force of the wind and redirects it in three evacuation channels inside the helmet, keeping it well ventilated and lets the air exit freely at the back. Garneau has provided a video, we hope you enjoy.

Are these in the UK anywhere?

I received the new 2011 Vorttice helmet (Style 1405956) in Size Medium a few days ago. There is currently a design flaw I need to point out.
The Spiderlock **** that tightens the helmet catches on the “Evacuation Channel” plate at the back of the helmet. The ***first time*** I put the helmet on the evacuation plate almost completely fell off because of the **** catching on the lip of the plate!! Even after fully adjusting the helmet to my head, the **** kept catching on the plate, so I have fully removed the plate as a result.
The Evacuation Channel Plate needs to be modified to create additional clearance in the Spiderlock **** area. I would suggest approximately 1/2″ of additional clearance. I have alerted LG of this design flaw and made this suggestion to them so hopefully they will make this change in the near future. I have also asked for permission to make this modification without voiding the warranty (as of 13/03/2011 pending approval).

Hmmm.. The four astrisks in a row in my above post were automatically put in place of the actual word I used, spelled “k” “n” “o” “b”. Apparently even that word has connotations on a bike review forum.
The three astrisks in a row on either side of “first time” were added to simply emphasise.

How did the helmet perform once you sorted out the ‘twisty bit’. Or are you still awaiting approval before attacking it. (‘Twisty bit’ in place of banned K word).
