2011 Globe Haul City Bike

Globe reduces the models released in the Haul series to two for 2011, a standard model and a step through woman’s bike.
The 2011 Globe Haul changed little since last year, with the exception of the cargo deck. Last year Globe used wood and for 2011 a metal deck was applied. Globe said the change makes the 2011 Haul city bike cost effective, and more environmentally friendly. Of course metal is stronger than wood, allowing you to haul heavier items. As much as 110 lbs can be hauled on the cargo deck.
The standard Globe 2011 Haul is available in blue, while the Step Through comes in red and light blue. Retail price is $610.

Almost perfect. Next year get rid of the derailleurs and use an internal multi-geared hub. Work bikes need protection for their workings.
Actually, they skimmed the specs down a fair bit in ways other than the deck:
1. The integrated lights are gone. That’s pretty minor really, and the integrated lights on the 2010 model used annoying coin batteries.
2. Drivetrain severely cheapened – 2010 model had 8 speed Alivio, SRAM cassette, trigger shifters, Altus front derailleur.
2011 model has 7 speed Altus, shimano *freewheel!*, Revoshift twist shifters, and tourney front derailleur
There are some other insignificant changes, but changing the drivetrain that radically isn’t too impressive. The killer there in particular is the move from cassette to freewheel, weakening the rear axle significantly as well as lowering performance overall and making good replacement freewheels with a good gear range a pain.
The haul really got the shaft for 2011.
