2011 Bianchi Pista Steel

The Bianchi Pista, one of the most popular fixed gear bikes on the market, will return as the Pista Steel once again for 2011.
The 2011 Bianchi Pista Steel is much the same bike as it was last year. The only big change is in the the color options offered for 2011: black/cream and white/gray.
Going the “retro” route, the Bianchi 2011 Pista Steel lives true to its name, as the frame is built from steel. Featuring FSA crankset, Shimano SS sprocket, RC drop bars, and a Alex track wheelset, the Bianchi Pista Steel is quite the bike.
Available very soon, if not already, to US markets. MSRP is $729.

This has been a staple in the Bianchi line of offerings for quite some time now. We are still trying to understand the $729 price points for this bike, it seems there are some equally worthy competitors at lower pricing. The chromed drop outs are a nice touch.
I bought my first bianchi pista chrome(2010 model) just a couple of months ago,and I have to say, it is a fine strret bike. With the addition of a shimano 105 front brake assembly, it weighs 22 pounds, but it really is a performer. I climb hills without any trouble, decend hills at great speeds, and excellent handling., and it looks great. I will probably not use it on the track though. Actually looking at either buying a super pista,or a felt tk2 (and I must say, leaning toward the felt, no offense Bianchi.Anyway, as a fixed gear road bike I give it a 5 star rating. The highest rating I can give. Even though I will not race it on the track, I will be riding it on the track come spring time,if not sooner, so please check back in the begging of the spring for my next review.
P.S. typo… Beginning
MSRP $749US?
Howcome the cheapest in .au I have seen it is $1299?
With current exchange rates $US749 = $AU780.
I can understand extra shipping costs, so maybe around $899 MAX. But no-where has it under $1299?
Anyone suggest a retailer with a cheaper price?
Hey Joely, just want to reply, and maybe shoot a couple of ideas your way. First, are you sure it is the “Pista Steel” your looking at, because there are several different models of the Bianchi pista. Assuming it is,and the price is correct, maybe you should consider contacting one of the bigger bicycle retailer here in the US, or some other country, and see if they would be willing to ship one to you. I can’t imagine that being anymore expensive than the asking price you are describing. Good luck with that, and happy trails.
