2011 Isaac Proton FW Road Bike
Isaac Cycles introduces the Proton FW for 2011. It is the top model among high-end bikes for Isaac Cycles. At Eurobike, it was presented side by side with the white Proton to let the world know that the Proton FW is different from its predecessor as from day and night.
Lighter by 50 grams, the Proton FW road bike was built and designed to undertake the impossible. It features the latest carbon-based technology with cable guides and tubing that keeps it light and fast. It comes in six sizes. The frame uses a 1k monocoque carbon weave, 1 1/8″-1 1/2″ steerer and crown.
The Proton FW has alloy dropouts, integrated Shimano press-fit BB shell and 31,6mm seatpost insert. Other components include black anodized seatpost clamp and 1″1/8 – 1.5 headset.

Isaac Cycles is an interesting but still very obscure offering. I am a bit disappointed they have entered into the fray of building bikes with only lightness and stiffness in mind. In builders and designers quest to build the lightest bikes they come up with these ultra lightweight,

Isaac Cycles is an interesting but still very obscure offering. I am a bit disappointed they have entered into the fray of building bikes with only lightness and stiffness in mind (which may be fine for “true” racers but not for the enthusiasts that buy bicycles). In builders and designers quest to build the lightest bikes they come up with these ultra lightweight, thin tubing configurations then they have to engineer stiffness into the design with these over-sized bottom brackets that usually seem to make the ride quality have a “dead” feel and then they must over-build the head tube to make the ultra lightweight frame handle better. I hope Isaac and others have found a way to balance ultra lightweight with a “lively” feeling ride!!!
I have an Isaac Sonic and I love it, it is super stiff!!!! It’s not terribly light but I am 6 foot and 145 lbs and my last bike was a 13.5 lbs BMC Pro machine. However with the Isaac i have come to realize that stiffness is far more valuable then weight even climbing which I do a lot off. Additionally the oversized front end makes the bike much more stable and makes a huge difference in safety particularly while descending at high speeds. As for the ride, its fairly stiff. What doesn’t make sense to me is that most manufacturers try to push the “smooth” rides of there bikes. Tires and wheels make a far greater difference in the ride. To me it makes much more sense for manufacturers to work on stiffness and weight. The ride should be tuned by the wheels and tires. Larger tires make a huge difference in fact many Pro teams are using 25c tires to smooth the ride of their high profile carbon wheels. Not just at Paris Roubaix either. Plus the larger volume tires are actually must faster on the crappy roads most of us ride. Anyways just my 2 cents
