The women’s line for Specialized introduces the 2011 Safire with new geometry, tubeset and suspension design. The Safire aims to be the leading model for women when it comes to off-road/all-mountain bikes. It comes in two models, the Safire FSR Pro and the Safire FSR Comp.
Specialized redesigned the Safire, giving it heavy looking tubes, a lower front end and inline suspension or the FSR type of suspension. The frame is made from M5 aluminum alloy and the toptube comes in 3 pieces. 2 are hydroformed tubes and the third piece is a forged hollow centerpiece. The lower front end was due to a tapered headtube and integrated bearings to allow riders better cycling position to give maximum performance on the trail during climbs and descents.

BMC introduces the Impec for its 2011 line. Short for the word “Impeccable”, BMC hails this bike to be the first entirely machine made bike. BMC has a patented robotic loom which did the carbon tubing weaving at precision level. The frame is held by the Shell Node concept. They are compressed carbon composite injection-molded two-piece parts.
The 2011 BMC Impec weighs 6.8kg and comes in two fits, the Race and Performance. Each fit has five frame sizes and follows the same geometry. It also has two color schemes. For the Team model, it comes in red shell Nodes and natural carbon tubes. As for the Noble, it will have a satin carbon finish.
Pricing for the Impec starts at $7,999 with SRAM Red components and Easton EC90 wheels. The 2011 BMC Impec will be available in September.
