When you hear the name Neil Pryde, what comes to mind is Windsurfing Sails, and Rig Supplies, but now the company announced they will release two high performance road bikes.
Neil Pryde and DesignworksUSA have collaborated on two road bikes. As you may know, DesignworksUSA is a subsidiary of the BMW Group. The two will release the Alize and Diablo road bikes, while both will debut at the Vattenfall Cyclassics in Hamburg, Germany between August 13th and the 15th 2010.
The Alize road bike went through optimized tube profiling and focuses on aerodynamic performance. The changing aerofoil profile running with the tubes controls the airflow for the frame, forks, wheels and other components. Featuring progressive Kammtail profile in the lower 1/3 of the down tube, and extended trailing edge morphing into a squared off surface allows more efficient transition with the down tube and seat tube.
For the Neil Pryde Diablo, both companies developed an exoskeleton design made of continuous carbon fibers that are fully integrated into the front triangle. Stiffness ribs were added to the fork blades, chain and seat stays. This design allows the carbon fiber to run through the tube joint transitions. “We are extremely proud of the two bikes that reflect our brand essence and attitude,” said Michael Pryde, Group Sales and Distribution Manager at NeilPryde. “Our heritage in elegantly engineering winning products in the water sports arena is now expanded beautifully to the cycling world,” Pryde added.
Both the Alize and Diablo have options of Shimano Dura Ace or Ultegra, while pre-orders are being accepted now and will ship out mid September. Stop by Neil Pryde online to purchase.
