The women’s line for Specialized introduces the 2011 Safire with new geometry, tubeset and suspension design. The Safire aims to be the leading model for women when it comes to off-road/all-mountain bikes. It comes in two models, the Safire FSR Pro and the Safire FSR Comp.
Specialized redesigned the Safire, giving it heavy looking tubes, a lower front end and inline suspension or the FSR type of suspension. The frame is made from M5 aluminum alloy and the toptube comes in 3 pieces. 2 are hydroformed tubes and the third piece is a forged hollow centerpiece. The lower front end was due to a tapered headtube and integrated bearings to allow riders better cycling position to give maximum performance on the trail during climbs and descents.
The Safire FSR Pro weighs 25.3lbs and uses the Specialized Future Shock S140TA. It has 115-140mm front travel and Specialized/Fox Brain Shock with 120 mm travel. It is equipped with SRAM 2X10 drivetrain.
The Safire FSR Comp features RockShox Reba RLT with 120mm front travel and Custom Fox Triad II with 120 rear travel. It weighs in at 26.3lbs.
