2011 Masi Evoluzione Road Bikes

Masi is known for releasing fixed gear and steel bikes, but in 2011 they will dip into the carbon market with the new Evoluzione series.
The Masi 2011 Evoluzione road bikes are constructed around the new Evoluzione frame and fork. Using Masi’s Total Overdrive System which fuses oversized chainstays, and BB30 bottom bracket. They have also lowered the headset by 1.5 inches with a tapered fork steerer tube, making the road bikes very stiff.
For comfort, Masi added seat stays for vertical compliance, and have made them flat horizontally but oval shape vertically.
For components, you have the choice of Shimano Dura Ace, Ultegra and Force, or SRAM 105 and Apex. Shimano models use a High Modulus frame, carbon dropouts and carbon forks. SRAM Evoluzione’s come with a Mid Modulus frame, carbon dropouts, and carbon forks. All models will have internal cable routing and internal guides.
The Masi Evoluzione 2011 will also release as a frameset that is used with the Dura Ace bikes.

Thanks for the write up!
Just wanna make a couple comments/ corrections for accuracy though;
The new Evoluzione series is a replacement for the carbon 3VC series we’ve been doing for about 5 years now. Evoluzione is the next phase in our “evolution” in producing carbon race bikes.
The Dura Ace, Ultegra and Force models all use the same High/ Ultra High Modulus frames. The Shimano 105 and SRAM Apex models both use the Mid/ High Modulus frames. So the split is among the 3 higher end models, rather than Shiman vs SRAM.
The headset uses a 1.5″ size bearing, rather than being 1.5″ lower in height. The upper bearing is 1.125″ and tapers to the larger 1.5″ bearing for increased stiffness.
The Toatal Overdrive System is an integrated approach to overall stiffness using the significantly oversized chainstays, the BB30 bottom bracket and the oversized lower headset bearing- this gives an overall increase in stiffness from the front of the frame to the rear.
Again, thanks for the mention- we’re incredibly excited about these bikes and their arrival around December/ January… it’s gonna be a great year!

So cool that the Brand Manager responded. Kudos on the seat stay design for compliance! Now, how has Masi addressed tube wall variation for different
sizings?
This new line is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I can’t wait til they hit the sales room floor!
Very nice looking bike. Do you know what the frame weight will be for a size medium (54)? Also, can you tell me what type of carbon is used? (30 ton, 40 ton, etc.)
Thanks!
Where can I find all the details about the geometry, specs, frame seizes? Also, can I pick the color and the component group or are there limitations?
Thanks!
I am considering buying a Evoluzione series with Ultegra. Where can I find the specs for this bike.
TY
Tim, I’m really considering the Evoluzione with 105s because its in my price range and has many features I wanted from higher end bikes. How would you compare this bike to similar priced Madones and Felts?
Thanks!
I am in the same boat as Kevin. Really torn between the Madone 4.5 and the Evolusione 105. Any inputs on this would be great.
Tim – I love the Evo line! Your website isn’t up to date with dealers in the Philly area (BikeLine doesn’t list Masi). Where can I test ride a Masi
Thanks,
Scott
I was on a Fuji Roubaix and just purchased a Masi Evo Ultergra. Wow what a ride!! I have only about 140 miles on it so far but have been very pleased. I looked at Scott, Cdale, and Specialized before taking a hard look at Masi 53cm. It was an easy decision once I just sat on the bike, not to mention it is one of the best looking of the bunch with lots of small details that were not over looked. I did have a set of Easton EC90 SL Carbon wheels, with Conti race tires. This bike is stiff but yet very comfortable beyond whet one would think for a race geometry bike, must say the ProLogo saddle is a great and no upgrade is needed for long rides. With Look Carbon Blade pedals, the bike weighed a true 16.2 lbs.
Would love to share some pics of my ride if you are interested.
Scott, Check out EMS in Collegeville it’s not that far, maybe 20 minutes form KOP mall. I’m also looking at MASI Evoluzione Force for first carbon road bike and i know they carry Masi as far as what they have in stock, i can’t be sure it’s been a few weeks since i was there last. Good luck!
There are no internal cable guides, except for the rear derailleur, there are guides because there’s full cable housing for the rear brake and both derailleurs.
Absolutely awesome bike for the price point though.
Hey Noah,
Can you share some pix of you Masi Evo ultegra.

Tim, just wanted to share a recent experience I had with Masi and Sun & Ski Sports in Frisco, TX. I had purchased a 2011 Evo Ultegra with Easton EC90 SL carbon wheels, Look carbon blade pedals along with other extras. The staff at Sun & Ski were very personable and was tremendous in making the over all experience great. That being said, I was so pleased with the over all performance and quality of the bike was awesome to say the least. Well, every good story at times must hit a bump in the road and my story sure did. Six weeks after purchasing my bike I was on a small group ride when coming into a corner and caught a stone with the front wheel in a tight section of the apex and went down when the front tire blew out. I was fine but the bike on the other hand was not. The impact of the fall and how I went down caused a slight crack on the head tube as well as other damage to the bike. With the recent $5000.00 expense I had made on the bike and optional items I was unsure what I was going to do to get back on a bike.
A few days later I took the bike to Sun & Ski Sport. Immediately the staff began working on what they could do to salvage what parts they could. By the second day not only did they call me to inform me of what parts were good but to inform me that they had spoken with Masi and Masi was willing to help anyway they could to get me back on a bike. The entire staff at Sun & Ski Sport from store managers Jason, Mark, & Casey, to bike dept. managers Jay & Mark all had an important part in getting me, the customer, taken care of and back on a bike and all the while taking into consideration the money that I had recently spent on my first bike. Two weeks later on was picking up a 2012 limited
Black Evo. Masi sent a frame and Sun & Ski ordered the additional parts. Mark in the bike department built an absolute beautiful bike with so much attention to detail you would have thought he was building it for himself.
Although I had to spend a little money and was off a bike for three weeks, it was all well worth it. I must say the customer support Masi displayed and the amount of care and customer service the crew at Sun & Ski gave me, I will be a lifetime Sun & Ski supporter and a lifetime Masi rider.
Thank you to those who still know the meaning of customer support and service.
