The 2011 Lapierre Spicy is the bike of choice by many enduro riders when it comes to big mountain races. Lapierre utilizes OST (Optimized Suspension Technology) and 160mm of air sprung travel. The suspension platform is based on a patented virtual pivot point system. This allows for a perfect balance of weight and force which gives the rider unequalled experience on all types of terrain and still maximizes pedal efficiency. The Spicy has four models in its line, the 216, 316, 516 and the 916.
The Lapierre Spicy 516 has a carbon rear and front alloy frame with Fox 36 TALAS R Open Bath tapered fork. To compliment the frame, it has Fox Float RP2 for rear shock and Shimano components for derailleurs, crank, shifters and cassette. The Spicy 516 also has FUNN handlebars and stem with a Thomson Elite seatpost. Fulcrum Red zone 20 for wheels with a 12x142mm rear thru-axle, the Lapierre Spicy 516 have Continental Rubber Queen UST 26×2.20 tires and LP Rubber Lock-on grips. The Spicy 516 weighs 13.4kg.
The Lapierre Spicy 916 has a carbon rear frame with the main triangle inspired by the Supreme 6. The fork is a Fox 36 TALAS RC2 Fit with a semi-integrated carbon headset. It has Truvativ Press Fit bottom bracket and Fox Float RP2 boost valve rear shock absorber. The Spicy 916 is fitted with SRAM X.0 components and Easton Haven handlebar, stem and wheels. It uses Continental tires and LP Rubber Champagne Lock-on grips. It also features Crank Brothers Joplin 4 for seatpost and a Fizik Gobi saddle. The Spicy 916 weighs 12.5kg.
The Lapierre Spicy 316 has an alloy SL hydroformed frame with the OST feature. It has Fox Float fork and Shimano SLX components for derailleurs, chain, crank, cassette and shifters. With a Press Fit bottom bracket, the 316 has a 1-1/8 semi-integrated alloy headset and FUNN handlebar and stem. It uses an LP Rubber Red lock-on grips and weighs 14.1kg.
The Lapierre Spicy 216 also has an alloy SL hydroformed frame and OST 160mm. It has a RockShox fork, PF bottom bracket and semi-integrated alloy 1-1/8 headset fitted with Shimano SLX components, both the 316 and 216 have Continental Rubber Queen tires. The Spicy 216 weighs 14.8kg.
