After years of constant changes and redesign, Pearl Izumi finally launched its road shoe line. With the help of Shimano last 2008, the two companies brought you their latest revolutionary design in terms of bike shoes.
Pearl has been attempting to created something that is less ambitious than that of their previous products, which is not such a bad idea. The P.R.O RD II is the second best from the top of their line model, the super light Octane SL II.
The P.R.O RD II is different in many ways. It has a three position adjustment on the top, an instep strap for the foot’s arch and volumes too. There are two Velcro straps that are offset and angled slightly at the back. The heel part has a deep cut and has a combination of external and internal padding that has a carbon strap that anchors the user’s heel.
Although the P.R.O. RD II is a bit narrower than that of a Shimano shoes, the toe part is roomy. The P.R.O RD II only weighs 58g with a stack height that is about 7mm. Sizes range from 38-47 with ½ sizes.
