Mission Workshop releases its latest messenger bag called the Shed. Constructed with weatherproof material, the Shed is an all-around utility bag suitable for daily rides. The Shed has five internal zip pockets that are ideal for transporting documents, folders and other materials. To add, the Shed has water-resistant qualities, including its urethane coated zippers. The strap is made from anodized aluminum so it’s light and you can adjust the strap single-handed. The cross-chest strap stabilizer can be detached.

Other features of the Shed include a roll-top cargo compartment to keep your things dry and safe. It has two outboard pockets that are easy to reach while riding. For your valuables, the Shed has four individual pockets tucked inside the secondary compartment zipper. The center compartment can also accommodate most laptop sizes.

Brooks Saddles has more to offer it fans in the near feature. The saddles company will soon unveil its latest line called Select and will also reintroduce its previous line, the Colt.

Brooks Saddles has been in the business of making bicycle saddles since 1882. Last 2002, Selle Royale bought the company and with a fresh new outtake, is rolling out more products.

The Select saddles will be made from vegetable-tanned leather. Thickness of the saddle’s leather will be 5mm. The leather comes especially from 36 month old Swedish cows to guarantee a long-lasting quality of leather. A trademark which Brooks Saddles carry is the duration of breaking in a saddle. The National Biking and Walking Study: a 15-year Status Report was a study conducted by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center. It tackles the trend in bicycling and walking since 1994. So far, the result of that study has been promising.

The goal of the study was to “double the percentage of total trips made by bicycling and walking from 7.9% to 15.8% of all travel trips.” From the looks of things, the PBIC might achieve its goal. From 1990 to 2009, more and more people have chosen to walk from 18 billion people to 42.5 billion. As for bicycling, it also increased from 1.7 billion to 4 billion.

In a survey done in 2009 called the National Household Travel Survey, bicycling and walking takes 11.9% out of all the trips. Down by 3.9% from the PBIC’s goal.

Trek Bikes presents its 2011 Gary Fisher Collection with a tag line that says “This bike can change your life and the world.” The line features the “Transport” and “Transport+” longtail cargo bikes. Both have rear load racks which can be folded, a front rack, a wide-stance kickstand, fender and a Bontrager bag. The Transport+ has front and rear lights.

The longtail cargo bike uses Avid BB5 for front brakes and Tektro V-brake for the rear. Bontrager components comprise the saddle, seat post, handle bars and stem. SRAM reveals its X0 2011, expected to be available to the market in August 2010. The X0 family has cranks made from carbon with aluminum inserts for its spindle and pedals. The cranks have a spider alloy which can easily be put in or out. Three T2 bolts allow the spiders to jump from a two-ring or three-ring set up. Also, choose from 170mm or 175 mm long, BB30 or GXP bottom bracket, or from colors of red, gold, black or blue.

The cranks are durable and strong to the level of downhill standards. As for the speed rear derailleur, the C-clips, which used to be at the bottom of the parallelogram, were moved to the top for safety from getting in the way.
